"Good Morning!" I heard a familiar voice shout as the door loudly closed itself.

I slowly tried to open my eyes and saw Maddie by the door. "What are you doing here so early?"

"Expect me to be here all the time now that your mom finally knows me." Maddie jumped on my bed.

"Alright, but to make things clear, I'm going to stay on my bed today."

"What? I thought we were gonna pump up some endorphins this morning?"

"Go get a chocolate bar or something, I'm seriously not in the mood." I told Maddie as I tried to go back to sleep.

"What? But why? Don't be- Hey, wait a second. Sam, who are you stalking?" I felt Maddie stand up from my bed.

"Hmm?" I replied half awake. I tried to open one of my eyes and saw that she was sitting on my desk where my laptop was.

"Amber Alvara." Her head moved closer to the laptop's screen.

"Waaaiit!" I immediately jumped out of my bed and closed my laptop.

"Wow, I guess my gay-dar's pretty good after all."

"Very funny." I sarcastically told Maddie. "She bumped into me the other day. It was so hard it made us both fall on the floor. She looked familiar, I mean other than the time I saw her dancing at school, so I looked her up." I told Maddie.

A smug on Maddie's face started to form. "Just admit that you saw a potential crush."

"Since when did you start shipping me with girls?"

"Since you entered an all girls school? What choice do I have, it's not like you're into that Bryce guy."

"Huh? Why would you say that? He's.. fine."

"More like rich, handsome, nice, smart, and rich." Maddie quickly responded. "And yet you still hesitated to go out with him, tsk." She added with one of her eyebrows raised.

"I know, he's a catch I get it." That's why I agreed to go on a date with him next weekend."

"Next weekend?" Maddie started laughing. "You're so not into him."

"How can you say that? You know what, nevermind. Whatever, think what you want to think." I threw her the pillow on my lap.

Maddie caught the pillow and threw it back on my bed. She stood up from her seat and reached for something from one of my shelves. "Well, on the other hand, that Amber girl probably looked familiar to you because of this."

Maddie handed me last year's November issue of the Empire Magazine, where one of the parties that my family attended was featured.

"Remember last year's issue of Empire magazine? The one where they featured the Party of the Year?" Maddie jumped right back on my bed.

"Uhm, I remember the party invitation, it was gem studded."

"It was yes, it was called the Beautiful Gem party. Do you remember who hosted it?" Maddie asked.

I kept quiet for a while, trying to recall what I can from the party. I opened the magazine and saw a group photo of my parents with a few other people. Below it were the names of the people on the picture: Mr. Michael and Pamela Ortega, Mr. Gabriel and Evangeline Del Rey, Mr. Charles Taylor, Mr. Jun and Sandra Tan with the hosts of the night Mr. Richard and Melanie Alvara.

"It was hosted by the Alvara's, right." I started to recall things from the party.

"Yeah, the party was for Amber. It was her official welcome to the Alvara Logistics Inc. since she's going to graduate this school year, and because she finished her business training in the states during the summer. They decided to have the party as soon as her parents got home from the states. That's why it was named Beautiful Gem, because that was the literal meaning of her name. Seriously, were you high that night for me to make you remember? You went with your parents, and your date was Dylan, his family was also there. How could you not remember? You even let me try on your shoes before leaving." Maddie preached.
