I did say that I was okay with my parents being away all the time because In a way, I understand that they value their work and money, a lot. Although it does have a huge impact on me, their reputation has the ability to pull my strings. I always have to look and do my best, and behave appropriately in front of people, especially in front of adults. I do enjoy it sometimes, the pampering and the clothes, but there are times that it can be a big drag. There are times when I have to be able to reach the same impression that they can offer, so that people would look at us as the rich, powerful and intimidating Del Rey family. The worst part is, that is how I grew up, and whether I like it or not, things are going to stay like that. I'm just glad that I was finally able to get through the staring crowd and finally reach the Dean's office.
"Welcome Ms. Del Rey." A woman with strong physical features, wearing a white blouse and a black pencil skirt greeted me by the door. "I am the Dean of Ellington College, Dr. Sheila Perez, and I would like to personally welcome you to our campus." She stated with a very formal smile.
"Thank you Dr. Perez. It's uhm, great to be here." I uttered. Suddenly another person starts to walk towards us.
"Dr. Perez." She told the Dean and tilted her head to look at me.
"Ms. Taylor, perfect timing." The Dean greeted and turned towards me.
"Ms. Del Rey, I would like you to meet Ms. Hillary Taylor. She's a senior student of International studies and the President of the Student Council. I asked her to accompany you today so she can guide you on your first day and give you a tour of the entire campus."
"Hello." The right side of her lips slowly pulled up, then stretched her right arm for a handshake. "You can call me Hillary." She said, completing the smirk on her face.
"Hi, I'm Samantha." I replied with a smile and reached for the handshake.
"Feel free to ask Ms. Taylor any question, and approach her anytime even after today." The dean insisted.
"Shall we go?" Hillary asked with the same look on her face. She moved next to me and started to walk and explain things about the campus.
Hillary's tall, enough to become a model. Her skin is rosy fair and her hair is in the shade of dirty blonde. She looks like she is half western. She's wearing a pastel pink blazer over a white dress.
"So Samantha, which empire did you come from?" Hillary asked.
"Empire?" I looked at her and laughed a little.
She took a quick peek of my schedule that I have been holding the whole time. "Princess Samantha V. Del Ray." She read. "The Princess Samantha Del Rey?"
"The?" I uttered.
"Yes. The one and only daughter of the Gabriel and Evangeline Del Rey, heir of the Del Rey Corporation and the biggest hotel chain of the country. I knew you seemed extra special." She replied with a pleasant smirk on her face.
Ellington specializes in Business, which is why most of their students are probably from families that belong and work in the corporate world. That means almost everyone sort of knows everyone.
"Well, you can just call me Samantha or Sam. Either of the two works." I replied.
"Okay then, Samantha." She gave me a smile. "May I see your schedule? She asked. I smiled back and handed over my schedule.
"Your rooms for today are all located in the Alexandria building. I could take you to your first class and the rest won't be so hard to find from there." Hillary stated.
"Great, thank you." I replied.
"Well, it seems that your last class ends at 2pm. My last class ends at 2:10, if you have no plans after school, we could have the tour later instead. It seems like a better option since we'll have more time in our hands." Hillary suggested.
I gave her a nod, "Yeah sure, that makes sense."
"Good, see you then." Hillary smiled. "Here comes your first room."
"Thank you Ms. Taylor." I replied.
"Ms. Taylor?" She laughed. "You aren't my butler, call me Hillary."
"Alright, Thanks Hillary." I smiled and took a deep breath.
"You're nervous?" Hillary asked.
"Yeah.." I admitted. "It's probably just first day jitters."
"Perhaps, but you shouldn't be." Hillary advised.
"I know, it's pretty ridiculous." I grumbled.
"No, it's just that, I don't see any reason for you to worry." Hillary stated. "Not every girl gets the chance to study at Ellington College, that means you're as special as everyone else here." She smiled. "Although, there are a few cases where some people are extra special. You might be one of them." She winked.
"Well, I just really just want things to be different this time. You know, from high school." I admitted. "Uhm, you know, just for a change."
"Really?" She asked with a certain look on her face. "Isn't that up to you?"
"I sure hope so this time." I quietly admitted. "Anyway, thanks again Hillary, I guess I'll see you later."
"You're welcome, dear." Hillary said. "See you later." She smiled and walked away.
