star chasing (mattedd)

I smiled, listening to edds rambling.
We were sitting on a rooftop, stargazing like we did every weekend.
"The cosmos are so vast matt! Imagine just being able to swim through the galaxies," Edd smiles widely and points upward.
I chuckle as he continues chatting happily and pointing at stars he knew a lot about.
"But ya know, exploring space wouldn't be near the same without you," The green hooded male says, kissing my cheek.
I blush as he wraps his arms around me and buries his face in my shoulder.
"Gosh I love you so much.." Edd says, giggling as I blush a dark shade of red.
"Love you too Eddy," I say, my ears burning slightly.
We giggle as Edd suddenly leaps up, pointing at the sky, a wide happy grin spreading across his face.
"MATT LOOK! ITS A SHOOTING STAR!" He shrieks, hoping up and down.
He quickly climbs off the roof and runs down the street as I follow.
"Edd! what are you doing?" I ask, catching up to him.
"Dont you wanna catch it?!" He asks, looking around for it.
We run after the star, the dawn streaked sky giving away the path to go.
Edds giggles fill my ears as we sprint onward as neighbors look at us with confusrd expressions.
He dispears around the corner and i hear a sob.
"Edd?" I ask, looking at the teary eyed boy.
I spot something shiny in his hands making me gasp as tears stain his face.
"I can't believe it! I'm holding an actual star!" He says, wrapping one arm around me.
I hug him tightly and kiss him as he does the same, still holding the star in his hand.
"Me and you are fathers now, we adopted a star," Edd grins, putting the star in my arms.

I wake up in a cold sweat, shaking my head.
I looked over the empty side of the bed, blatantly ignoring the cold and stared at the pictures on the bed desk.
All the pictures that led up to to his passing sit there, bringing a smile to my face.
I looked to the case which held the star.
Our star.
And giggled, remembering Edds excitement.
I turned my head to the picture of the brand new truck Tord had bought, which we were all sitting on.
I shuddered slightly, rembering their shrieks as the car crashed, slaughtering Tord and Edd.
I shook my head and turned back to the star.
I held it on my lap and started laughing, joy bringing tears to my eyes.
In no way was edd gone, just by holding this star he was right next to me.
Right by my side.
Because I'll never forget you edd.
"Good night edd," I Say, curling back up.
The bed dipped in my weight as I curled back up, letting sleep pull me back into the wonderland with my best friends.
