Bundled up in a thick, downy coat, Baekhyun resembled more of a weird, fluffy animal than a human. With the ring of fur lining his hood, it wasn't difficult to picture him as some strange forest creature.
"I hate December." Baek huffed, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "It's too cold!"
I just laughed at him, rolling my suitcase behind me. "Where I'm headed, it's much colder than this." I smirked, sauntering up ahead of him. "And I can't wait!"
In Seoul, winter's were mild compared to home. Mostly wet and rainy, it's rare to see any snow, however there was a small dusting of flurries spinning around our heads as we went to Chanyeol's car. The ground was slick with ice, making me slide my feet to propel myself forward, but I persisted through.
Today was a day I'd been waiting for for entirely too long; classes having ended yesterday, it was officially time for me to fly back home for the holidays. My mom had been texting me all through the night (or rather, her day), expressing that she was just as excited as I. The past four months had been great, no doubt, but I certainly missed the traditions of home.
And God, I was getting tired of having ramen almost every night.
"Jesus Christ Chae, are you moving back home? How much stuff do you need?" Chanyeol huffed, dragging my largest suitcase behind him.
"I'm going for two weeks, Chan, I need enough to make it worth it." I said, rolling my eyes. One bag to check, and one back as carry-on. I don't think that's ridiculous.
"So am I, but you don't see me packing three thousand pounds of crap." Sehun said, backpack tossed over his shoulder. His own suitcase in tow, he pulled up beside me with an exaggerated eye roll. "I guess this is the true measure of who's the bigger diva."
I rolled my eyes right back, a small smile playing on my lips. "You are, Sehun. That's not up for contention."
"Well, our baggage would suggest otherwise." Sehun said, a lopsided grin dangling off his lips.
"Good thing baggage doesn't matter." I said, rolling my eyes at his stupid form of measurement. "Plus, I'm going to a whole new country. You're just flying a couple hours south."
"Either way." Sehun said, shrugging his shoulders. His strides became longer, propelling himself away from me, only to be quickly replaced with Kyungsoo.
"Are you sure you have everything?" He asked, eyeing my bags wearily. I could tell he was more nervous about me going home than I was.
"Yep, I'm all good." I said, bumping my shoulder with is with a grin. "How about you? What time does your train leave?"
Ky glanced at his leather-strapped watch with a sigh, eyebrows knitting together. "Not for a long time yet, I'm afraid. I'll definitely be able to see you two- " he said, nodding to Sehun and I, "- onto your flights."
"Well God bless, nice to have you see us off Dad." I said with a grin, shooting him a glance.
He often tried to hide it, but slowly I've come to realize how deeply Ky cares about all of us; from making sure we're eating, to helping everyone with our studying, and just the general 'hey, how's it going' texts, he always made sure we were all behaving ourselves. One time, in the private of my room, he even admitted that he see's himself as the 'father figure' of our group.
How cute.
"Fuck you, don't call me that." Ky said with a laugh, tossing his head back. "That's fucking weird."
"Sorry hyung." I said, laughing along with him. I couldn't tell if it was the cold, or the embarrassment that caused his cheeks to be so red.
"I hope I have enough room in the back to shove it all in." Chanyeol said, skipping up behind the car.
