Clancy hobbled back inside, shivering, sweating like a maniac. His world had been turned upside down, then put in a bag and been shaken vigorously, all in the space of a day, and he was on the verge of losing his mind.

By no means could he let Ruby or anyone else in on this... agreement - or their suffering would be his fault. Ruby greeted him with a cross expression. "Where were you all the that time? You took so long to get some air that Olive left! She had to go back, but left you a quick message though: "Always trust your gut feeling," Ruby said.

That was a little coincidental, thought Clancy, as had never needed more valuable advice in his life. Was it really worth betraying Ruby to the enemy to save her life, but scar many others? He didn't know.

Not to mention the fact that Ruby was three times as smart as him, and more often than not knew what he was thinking before he himself did. The only thing he was notoriously famous for was his hunches, and he definitely had one about this whole business.

He... he was going to get Ruby's watch for the Australian; or at least try to get it from the stealthy, quick-witted Ruby Redfort, and worry about the consequences later. "Earth to Clance," Ruby called, wafting her watch right in front of his nose.

What he wouldn't give to simply snatch it from her there and then! "Aww, why the long face buster? Are you sad because we didn't get to go to Disneyland?" she teased. Clancy forced an uneasy laugh and avoided conversation by downing his glass of water. Ruby raised a brow at his bozo behaviour. Oh, she knew he did behave like one most of the time, just not in front of her. Ruby shook her head. Maybe he was still recovering from the shock of the fall.

As they dropped down into their seats for the final presentation from the old agents, they light dimmed and all eyes were on the stage. Clancy's mind was feverishly working overtime, trying to come up with a way to ease it off her wrist. She seldom took if off. It was literally a matter of life and death. Now or never, Clancy thought miserably, as he gently edged his fingers towards the clasp of the watch. Ruby, none the wiser for the time being, kept her eyes glued to the stage. This was it! Easy... easy... last button...

Without warning, Ruby whipped her head around, and saw Clancy's hand a millimetre away from her watch. "Clancy! What is wrong with you?" Ruby hissed, agitated.

He blushed a deep red to the tips of his ears, mumbled something incoherent, and quickly turned away.

Ruby also muttered something under her breath, creating a seed of despair inside Clancy's stomach. How was he going to manage this monstrous and inhumane task? How?!
