At First Sight? - 2

I walked into class and saw something we rarely saw here at Henderson High.

A new student.

And in the middle of the year no less! It was as if someone up in the sky thought we needed something to make our lives....... better. And this girl did exactly that. When I saw her it was as if all colours were suddenly sharper. Her wood brown hair was complimented by her hazel brown eyes, making it seem like they were made of the finest milk chocolate. And then she pointed at me from the group of girls she was with. They slowly turned towards me. Each appraising look snobbier than the last.

 And then they started laughing.

"Okay" I thought. " So over it."

I closed the door and walked to the seat next to Justin. He was cool.

"This seat taken?" I asked.

"Nah" he replied. "Open for any one, any two, or any three if they can fit" he said with a smile. I laughed. Like I said, Justin's cool. Even though everyone still calls him Justin Bieber because his hair is blonde and he sang in the grade 6 musical.

"There's worse things to be called", I thought as I sat down.

"You know the new girl?" he asked. "Apparently she's from Dosier Prep too". And it was at that point, that I grew tired of her, and we hadn't even spoken yet. I was not looking forward to everyone assuming I knew her just because we went to the same prep school. I mean, I appreciate us getting a fresh face and all.......

But I did not really think that face needed to come from a body that went to my old prep school.

"No I don't" I told him. "It's looks like I never will, if she's hanging out with them". It seemed like the worst girls in our grade had already corrupted the new girl. And such a shame too. She looked nice enough. Justin looked back at them, gracefully fixing his long hair behind his neck.

"Maybe she won't be like them? There's always hope right?" he uttered, shaking his head.

"Yeah right. She's here", I said as the dreaded teacher walked into class. There was a sudden flow of students who now felt it prudent to get to their classes. The new girl was left standing when everyone one settled. There was one empty seat left in the class. And it just happened to be next to me. She came and sat down. Making it seem like these plastic stools we use as chairs were as good as a royal throne. Her white jeans contrasting against the black of the overused chair. She smiled at me.

Then I froze for a while before I smiled back.

I wondered what happened. I already didn't like her, so what made me freeze like that? That was so awkward. I slapped my head. "I'm an idiot" I thought. I looked forward and concentrated on the board. I had better things to do. Plus I did not, like her.

Right?
