As I sat on a bench right outside of the school, my foot tapping rapidly on the ground to show the little patience I had at the moment, I waited and waited and waited some more. Normally I'd be home by home, but Hiccup was taking forever and I really wanted to talk to him.
"Hey, Jack," a voice called from behind me.
I stood up and frowned at him with narrow eyes.
"What?"
"You left me alone with my girlfriend, how could you?" I accused.
Hiccup chuckled and sat down next to me, slapping my back in the process. "Sorry, bro."
I knew his apology was completely fake; he didn't feel any remorse whatsoever from his backstabbing action. "Whatever, you're not sorry," I huffed in aggravation.
As I remembered the reason why he betrayed me, my anger was turned into smug curiosity and one of my eyebrows was raised at him. "So, how was meeting the friend?"
"It was great, I got her blessing and everything." He held his head in a honored matter as if he were just knighted, while his smile reflected tremendous pride and accomplishment.
"I guess there's a first for everything," I teased and nudged him slightly.
He laughed lightly and responded, "Yeah, I guess you're right."
"Well, tell me about the friend. Is she nice? Does she do drugs or alcohol? Does she have any tattoos? Is she rich?" I asked out of curiosity.
Hiccup rolled his eyes at me but let out a soft laugh, "No drugs, alcohol, or tattoos; she wouldn't be caught dead doing any of those things. She's not rich but she's not like dirt-poor or anything. Honestly, she's the nicest person I've ever met." After that brief description, he remained silent.
"That's it?"
He shrugged. "Rapunzel's a pretty easy person to get along with."
"She's cute too," I added with a playful grin.
I remembered 'stalking' Hiccup and Merida during lunch today and getting a short look at the blonde sitting across from them. I didn't get a long look at her, but from what I gathered she was very pretty and seemed really nice.
"What about Elsa?" Hiccup asked in a high-pitched mocking tone.
"I'm just saying that she's cute, that's all," I defended. "Speaking of Elsa, don't ever leave me alone with her again. She was getting way too clingy today. I wonder if it's her time of the month or something cause she was like a tick today."
"That's just what girlfriends do."
I shot him a look of seriousness. "I bet Merida doesn't have a death grip on you."
Hiccup's blank face ensured that I was correct.
"Exactly."
"Then why don't you break up with her?"
"Because I like her," I stated in a 'duh' tone.
"It was just a suggestion."
I've started likening my relationship to a monarchy more than an actual relationship. Elsa had taken on the responsibility of being the queen--the Ice Queen, as Hiccup and I preferred--while I was left as the servant whose only purpose is to serve the queen and do whatever she needs. Don't get me wrong, I really really like Elsa, but I just hated the way she's been overly paranoid.
I shrugged my shoulders, and Hiccup picked up on the hint to not say anymore. Hiccup was never a really big fan of Elsa and he refused to tell me why. It could've been because she needed my constant attention, or because something happened between the two, but he wouldn't tell me because he didn't want to ruin my relationship. Even in times when I was irritable and whiny, Hiccup still manages to keep his cool and tolerate me. I'll never understand how he does it but I'm very grateful for his patience.
