Staying at Merida's house was like having a sleepover everyday. We'd stay up and talk for hours, we'd watch movies whenever we wanted, and we were permitted to have snacks at any time. The only difference was that I had my own room--granted it was the spare bedroom, but it was mine for the time being and it's all I could ask for. The Dunbroch's were more than helpful when it came to my well-being. They took care of me more than my foster mom ever did. I was fed three meals each day, received endless caring from everyone, and was given whatever I needed to suffice my needs or wants.

As much as I hated to admit it, I'm glad that I no longer had to live with my mother. At my new home, I could do as I pleased and not worry about being beaten or scolded on a regular basis. It was truly a blessing, one that I would cherish for as long as I could before it could be taken from me.

Merida and I were currently at the Halloween store with Merida's mom, hoping to find costumes for Mavis' halloween party tonight. We had been shopping for almost two hours and my feet were honestly getting really sore and felt as though I had been walking on legos whenever I stepped.

"Merida, hun, what about this one?" Elinor asked holding up a neon pink and yellow 80's outfit with horrid looking sequence designs on them.

"Umm... how 'bout no." Merida visibly cringed at the outfit. "I don't want to be a walking disco ball, mum. I want something more my style, you know?"

Elinor looked exasperated with her futile attempts to get her daughter to wear something else other than ripped jeans and dark colored shirts. "Honey, I don't even know what your style is."

"You know... something bold and non-prissy like." Her eyes wandered a little more around the store until they fixed on something almost halfway down the aisle we were standing in. "Like that one!" She rushed to it faster than a silver bullet leaving a gun.

Elinor and I walked over to see the outfit she had chosen for herself. It was a Scottish warrior-princess costume. It had royal blue material with a cream under-lining on it. It had a belt with a black and blue plaid scarf draping down from the waist and connected with a holster that was designed for holding arrows. The costume fitted Merida's personality perfectly. It wasn't showy in any way, which was good for Merida since she hated exposing clothes, and it expressed her heritage and her brave confidence. I was quite impressed with her choice.

"Are you sure you want that one? It seems a little... boring," Elinor questioned.

"I have never been more sure in my entire life."

"But-"

"Mum, I want this one."

"Fine." Elinor rubbed her temples with her fingertips like she were easing away a migraine. "Rapunzel, dear, do you see something you like?"

I looked around and didn't see anything I'd wear. All I saw were skimpy costumes that were far too dirty for my taste. I bet if nuns were actually caught wearing these provocative costumes designed to represent them, they'd be kicked out of the Convent and hosed down with holy water.

"Um... not really. I'll keep looking though."

Merida helped me look around but something pink caught my eye. Like a rope was lassoed around my waist, I was pulled towards the pink and purple costume hanging on a rack.

"Pink? You're whole wardrobe is pink, are you sure you want to add more to it?" Merida slightly winced.

"It's also purple," I said matter-of-factly. "Besides, this is it. This is definitely the one I want."

It was a pink and purple dress with lace sleeves that go past the elbow and the length fell to the shins. It had a corset in the torso area and intricate flowers embroidered in the skirt. A white underskirt was underneath the lilac colored bottoms and it was definitely fit for a princess and I wanted it.
