Thankfully Gothel let me spend the night with Merida. Usually I could have the weekends to myself because she was almost always at a bar getting drunk and hooking up with her super creepy boyfriend, but I appreciated it nonetheless. Lately she's been meeting this one guy at a bar in the city for over a couple months. She'd brought him home a couple times, but I was usually locked in my room for the night and forced to listen to them 'getting it on', or at Merida's house trying to get away from them. It was nasty and disgusting on so many different levels, so I was very thankful for the chance to get some distance from them.
Merida's house was huge and almost like a mansion. She owned many luxuries including a pool, an arcade, a theater room, and a very lavish loft. They often went away on the weekends to go to their beach house a couple hours from here, but they were kind enough to let Merida and I stay here alone while they were gone. The Dunbroch's were very rich, but they were never snobs about it, which I deeply admired about them.
Both of us were located in the loft doing each other's nails and talking. My redheaded friend decided to paint her nails a silvery grey color that went perfectly with her dark turquoise shirt with a bear on it, and her black sweatpants. Her wild hair was pulled into a ponytail, and her feet were covered in white fuzzy socks with arrows on them.
My pajamas opposed Merida's dark colored and rustic clothes with pink and purple values. My purple tank top with a hot pink 'R' plastered on it and dark grey capri-sweatpants coincided with the painted lavender on my nails. My blonde hair was wrapped in a messy bun atop my head and decorated with a pink headband. I'm a very proud victim of pink and purple.
Once our nails had dried, we decided to play some music and have ourselves a little dance party. Both of us had grabbed our hairbrushes and were singing to every song that played on the radio. Our melodic voice rang throughout the house while our hips swayed back and forth as we 'gracefully' danced around the room like there was no tomorrow. Each movement was exaggerated and filled with a sufficient amount of sass to add more to the fun.
When a slow song came on, we grabbed the nearest pillows and danced with them, pretending they were our boyfriends. While Merida danced with her Hiccup-pillow, flirting and winking at it, I secretly imagined my pillow as some other boy instead of my actual boyfriend. Flynn has never taken me dancing before but I wish he would, I was having a lot of fun. My pillow-date and I exchanged wonderful conversations about how lovely the other looks, or how great the music was, or laughing at the jokes we made with each other.
Merida and I waltzed and flirted with the pillows like they were actual people while also trying to hold back our girly giggling. I had to admit, we were acting like lunatics, but it was the most fun I've had in a very long time. For the first time in a long time, my laughs and smiles were real, all of my pain and sorrow was left behind for the night as I had fun being weird and quirky with my best friend.
"Okay, let's do something else now," Merida proposed.
"What do you wanna do?"
"How 'bout Would You Rather?"
"Okay..." I squealed. I thought of a question real quick. "Would you rather be attacked by a bear, or go on a date with Eret?"
"Bear 100%," Merida declared without any hesitation or doubt. "If it were up to me, I wouldn't even want to share the same air as that idiot, let alone go on a date with him. He'd just contaminate me with his sliminess."
I couldn't help but giggle at her. Eret Eretson has had a thing for Merida since middle school, but she absolutely hated the guy. I couldn't blame her either. Eret, Flynn, and Hans were best friends and had similar mindsets and tactics. All they wanted was to shove their tongues down our throats and take advantage of us. I had already been exposed to Flynn's heinous actions, and I knew Eret was just waiting for his chance to do the same thing to Merida. I had made it my ultimate mission to prevent that from happening to her, because no one should be subjected to the kind of torture I face.
