*1 month later*
I was on my way to work.
I locked the door, and trotted down the stairs, to find him at the bottom of the building.
He looks good. He looks happy. I'm glad, but it hurts to see him that happy without me.
"Hey, dan"
"Hey Emma"
He almost choked my name, as if it was poison on his tongue.
"How are you?"
"Good, I got a new job actually"
"Oh, good, anything's better than the last one I guess, what are you doing now?"
"I'm still at an art gallery"
"Oh well that's cool"
The small talk hurt.
"Found a lucky man yet?" Dan said, not making eye contact. He's obviously still raw.
"No, I have been enjoying be single actually, you?"
It was a reflex, you know, to keep the conversation going. But as soon as it left my mouth, I regretted it. I don't want to know if he loves another girl, kisses her like he used to kiss me, holds her like he used to me.
"Yea, actually. Um, her names Sophie. We've been together for a while now"
"cool, I'm happy for you"
It almost brought tears to my eyes. I still had feelings for dan. I had to get over myself though.
"I have to go, I'm late for work"
"Um, okay, see you later then?" Dan said, stepping out of the way of the door.
"Yea"
"Bye"
"Bye"
Don't cry Emma, your pathetic.
