I met dan and phil downstairs.
I hadn't seen Phil for a while, apart from exchanging smiles, and dan was explaining some kind of anecdote to an uninterested Phil.
"Hi"
"Ready?" Phil said
"Yep"
I looked at dan and we had a conversation with eyes.
What's wrong Emma? I cant help if I don't know! And as Phil got into the taxi, dan shot a worried look at me."Emma I haven't seen you in ages! How are you?" Phil said, trying to make a conversation out of an awkward silence. "Good, work is boring as usual, and my boss is a massive dick, but apart from that I'm fine" dan shot another worried look at me. He knew I was lying.
The place we went to for lunch was beautiful, with bunting tied to the top of the shop, and bright yellow walls wrapped around the building.
We sat down at a table, and looked at the menu.
"Oh crap! I left my phone in the taxi!" Phil said in a panicked way. " Dan Can I borrow your phone to call the guy" Phil asked.
Dan handed Phil his iPhone, and phil left to go stand outside to call whoever the guy was."Will you tell me what's going on now?" Dan said. "Nothings going on" I said in a cold tone.
"Something is going on, your acting weird, and haven't been texting me back" dan pressed. "look, dan, I know you might not understand since your living this ideal you tuber life where everything is perfect, and you can do whatever you want, but in the real world, we have to work hard for money, and go to jobs, and work our assess off to pay rent and buy food for next week. Nothing in life is perfect, and sometimes texting someone back becomes so much less important when you are debating whether you will be able to eat next week." Again. I lied. That, as well as being a problem, is not what was bothering me.
It was tearing me apart, every time that I saw dan, because it reminds me of that kiss, the one that was a mistake, the one that has sent me into this whirlpool of ignorance and selfishness.
"You're lying to me"
"No I'm not, why would I lie"
"Emma please tell me what's wrong"
"DAN WE HAVE TO GO FIND THE TAXI DRIVER!!!!!" Phil screamed across the cafe to us at the table.
"Goddammit phil"
