Background: August had just gotten off of a two month tour and decided it was only right too head back to his hometown, NOLA.
August POV: Driving through this neighborhood, pulling up to this house only brought back memories good and bad. As I rung the doorbell, I smiled when I heard laughter erupting from family members and my homies that still lived here. As the door swung open my smile grew even wider. "August, well don't you get even more handsome every time I see you! How you doing baby?" my aunt Minnie said smiling, showing off her flawless skin. "I'm fine Minnie, how are you?" "I'm alright honey." she moved to the side allowing me to come in. As soon as I made it to the backyard everyone greeted me. I made my way over to my Niggas Antwan , Carlos , Trell and Nino but something felt off. "wassup niggas?" I said taking a seat at the dominoes table. "Shit, a nigga can't call it" Trell said. We had been playing dominoes for a minute and Nino hasn't said shit. This was unlike Nino his ass always had something to say."What's up with you Nino? you ain't said shit." I asked looking in his direction. "Don't worry about me cuh." he said exhaling smoke. My eyebrows furrowed together in confusion. "Nah, fuck wrong with cha'?" I could hear my Nola accent coming out strong. "You don't fucking understand or know me cuh. You got you a little record deal and left everybody. You don't understand what it's like to grind and not make it." he said finally looking at me. "The fuck you talm bout? I know how it be when you trying your best but you turn around and you got nothing to show for it. You stay on your grind, tryna get to the shine. Even turn to crime but you feeling like how come you ain't made it yet? Nigga, I'm just like you I know the feeling cause I been there too. There ain't no difference you and I are the same. Homie I was right there, getting money right there born and raised right there. I remember nights where I had to go to sleep, in the back of the quick and easy. chilling on the boulevard, with the hardheaded niggas from the 7th ward. Remeber Shanay from the Ville? She was down for a nigga and that's real. All the shit I been through man I could never forget where I came from. Just remember I was Right There.
