Goodbye old home,
Goodbye old husband,
Goodbye old name,
Goodbye old me.

I am now Rainey Emma Smith, a 35-year-old woman, living in a small New York City apartment.

My new home had a small kitchen, a nice small bed in a small bedroom, a small living room, and a small balcony with a view of the busy streets below. It felt much cozier like this.

No more giant house of a rich ex-husband, No more hollow and cold king-sized bed,
No more empty, haunting, soulless rooms of my beloved little children.

No more... I smiled at that thought. No more.

I already have a friend here—Jennifer Kalel Blighton. She preferred to be addressed by her middle name, Kalel.

Kalel was still a wholesome little sweetheart, even if she was 33. Meeting her here in NYC was a wonderful miracle.

It was raining heavily at 9:54 pm. The café we were in was closing. "We're closing!" shouted a male worker from across the room.

I had an umbrella in my handbag, meanwhile this woman in her mid-30s didn't.

"Do you need an umbrella?" I asked her.

"Oh, yes I do, dear," she answered. "I only need to get to my car."

And comme ça without warning, we dove into deep conversation.

"I already planned everything out!" We were talking outside the shop. "I would most definitely need some help, though."

"I've always wanted to work at a coffee shop," I said, sincerely. "A nice and simple job like that would be absolutely wonderful."

"Ah, I have the vacancy for you as a barista, sweetheart!" She sounded really excited. "You did mention that you just moved over, yes?"

"Yes, I will gladly take the job!" I was ecstatic.

We then exchanged phone numbers. "Let's meet up in two days!" she said. "I'll text you the address and date."

"Thank you so much... um... I don't think I know your name!" We stopped by her car.

"Ah, my name is Jennifer Kalel Blighton, sorry!" she said. "You can call me Kalel."

The name clicked in my mind. I knew her from highschool. "I remember you!"

She looked at me, a bit puzzled. I then realized my mistake.

"M-my name is Rainey Emma Smith," I stammered a bit. She definitely wouldn't recognize me, I changed my face and everything life completely. "Do you remember?" I acted natural.

"Ah, I don't remember much about high school, sorry."

I sighed in relief. She didn't hear it amongst the pattering of the rain.

"Don't worry, it's fine!" I smiled. "Thank you so much for the job offer!"

"Thank you so much for the umbrella, Rainey!" she smiled. I waved her goodbye.

Her car went off into the distance, as I went the other direction to my own little apartment.

"I can't believe that I'm already going to get a job," I said to myself. "This should go smoothly, hopefully."
