Not only was I completely hyped for this tour to start, I was extremely nervous as to all the challenges and stressors being on tour brings on. I was excited to travel and meet fans and perform for fans.. I wasn't excited for boring bus rides and constant moving.
The whole crew was having a meeting a week before tour, and upon sitting across from an unfamiliar face, my heart soared. It wasn't like love at first sight or the absolute urge to marry the poor girl but, she gave me this excitement I haven't felt for a long time. She was a normal teen like me. She was the girl who I was told previously would be with me on the bus. On previous tours, though I came to appreciate the woman, I had quite a high strung and naggy person working to make me 'happy'. I was relieved to meet Sadie. This polite and quiet girl, with a head on her shoulders. I knew she wasn't professional, and that made me even more happy to have her with me. I was tired of professional. I wanted a friend. I needed someone who would set aside work and be a real person.
At the airport I was devastated when my guitar pick went missing. I thought I would have to cancel the tour and go home to Canada and cry under the covers of my childhood bed. I had other picks..hundreds of them. But this one was THE ONE I kept with me. I could've asked any crew member to help me, but as soon as I saw Sadie walk out of that gift shop I knew she must have been placed there for a reason. After totally startling her, she agreed to help me. When she had the audacity to search the mens restroom and FOUND IT, I was about to propose to her on the spot.
I felt as though my brain was out of control. It felt like my face looked like the heart eyes emoji.
I wanted her to come with me on the flight because not that regular first class is bad.. but its not a private jet. I was bold and immediately made it happen and dragged her and the anxiety seeping from her pores onto the plane. It was obvious my normal plane posse was confused as I brought this 'stranger' aboard but I didn't care. I however did care that Sadie was clearly uneasy and felt weird. I tried my hardest the whole flight to make her feel comfortable.
After take off, she was knees deep in a book with head phones on her head.
She had this brown and blonde hair that was loosely curled past her shoulders. She dressed comfortably but it was clear she tried to look nice. She looked up at me. I must've looked like I wanted to say something cause she removed her head phones and pulled them around her neck.
"Do you need anything?" I asked her.
"Isn't that what I am supposed to be asking you?" she grinned.
"You're my guest right now. I'm gonna be getting some lunch, would you like something, anything?"
She pondered a moment, "Any type of salad would be nice. If they have that."
"Okay."
"Thanks."

The rest of the flight I felt like I should've been trying to sleep because it seemed to be what everyone else was doing but Sadie. She was reading and not really saying a word to me. All I wanted was to sit and talk to her. I had a feeling that we would have time to talk.
"Thanks for bringing me." Sadie said putting her book away and headphones. We were buckling for landing in Sunny Florida.
"Of course." I told her. I couldn't believe the first stop was tomorrow evening.

After retrieving luggage and all of our persons from the airport we had a huge blue star bus shuttle us to the hotel we were staying for the night. I felt like there was a hundred of us staying in the hotel. Since there were so many of us at the first stop we had many people sharing rooms to minimize costs and the chances of us having people in separate hotels. I shared a room with my agent/manager Andrew.
