~ day 21 ~

C H E Y E N N E

"Hey," I hear a girl say from behind me. I look up in the mirror, finding Suki coming into the dressing room. She'd been working since the day that I told her to apply for a position in the club. She refused to be a dancer, so all she could be was a waitress, but it was more than enough. She just needed to be in the club. "Where were you yesterday morning? I thought I saw you scheduled."

We'd been getting to know each other since we tried to kill each other and, come to find out, she was just as damaged as me. We had much more in common than out interest in shooting guns at people. She wasn't just in a gang to be tough, she had a rough childhood, she had no choice, no family. As she was growing up, her father abandoned her mother, herself, and her kid brother young and soon after, her mother did also. She and her brother grew up hopping from shelter to shelter until one day, a man named Oni picked them up off of the streets and cared for them. The kingpin that had gotten the gang killed, including himself.

"I was," I start, sitting back in my seat as she comes and sits next to me, smirking. "Joker had other plans. He took me to his mansion to teach me how to use a gun."

Suki chuckles, moving her hair out of her face. I enjoyed her company. She had been the only person that I could talk to about what was going on in my life which had managed to revolve around Joker in the last month. "So, I've been thinking about ways that we could get Joker as soon as possible."

I nod, happy to have her on my team. She was a critical thinker and super goal-oriented. There wasn't a moment that would pass where she wasn't thinking of a way to get this mission done and over with. "Lay it on me."

"Well, Joker trusts you somewhat, I mean he hired you as a private dancer. So, I figured we use that to our advantage." She says, her voice quiet just in case any other dancers walked in. "We have to find a way to get you too alone up in the lounge. Ever since you told me that that door leads to the private lounge, I figured we could sneak him out of there. That way no one would see us get him out of the building and to your place."

I raise my eyebrows, utterly surprised that she actually thought about this so thoroughly. Her plan was almost seamless, but there was one issue. "There is no way he'll let the guards leave us alone in the lounge. He doesn't trust me that much. He's really just thinking with his di-"

The door creaks open slowly, causing me to shut up and both Suki and I to turn toward the opening door. An unfamiliar face glances at Suki and me timidly. A mischievous smirk appears on Suki's face as I sit back and watch the new girl avert her gaze and make her way to a vanity at the opposite end of the room.

"We don't bite." Suki snickers, her tone teasing. I hold my hand up, my eyebrows furrowing as I watch her pull a small revolver out of her purse. She wasn't using it to threaten us. Most of the dancers here all carried some sort of weapon, from pepper spray to guns. I couldn't be one to judge.
