In romance stories, the "good girl" is always very shy and doesn't like to socialise.
And yet, when she meets her love interest she's suddenly overcome with a sense of confidence.
And how do I know? Before, when the main character talked to the antagonist, she never answered back, she never cared. She just ignored her (or tried to).
And yet, she spends a week or so with Mr. Bad Boy and suddenly she an stand up to her bully.
I mean, she's shy with everyone else but she then talks with the antagonist with lots of confidence. Why does she only show confidence with the antagonist but not with everyone else?
I understand if she stands up to her at the end of the book, because confidence does take time to get (unless you're an extrovert) and by the end of the book she already developed had enough confidence. But she stands up at the middle of the book like it's nothing!
Thanks to @Unique-Majesty for the suggestion!
