DINAH LAUREL LANCE

Detective Joe West pulled up on the scene, eyeing the police cars and the ambulances behind the yellow caution tape.

Exiting his car he flashes his badge at the officer standing guard before he slips under the tape to get a better look at the scene. Taking note of the charred car he turns to the ambulance where a young girl laid on a gurney and a woman hovered over her, tears streaking her cheeks.

"What happened?" he asks the nearest officer

"A Meta-human attack. Some woman was roaming the side of the street. The mother stopped to try and help but she just screamed at them."

A chill runs down the detective's spine at the mention of a woman screaming.

"Screamed?"

"Yeah, some high pitch frequency or something. Sent the mother flying, knocked her out instantly and flipped over their car with the kid in it."

Looking over at the ambulance he thanks the officer before heading over towards the woman and her daughter, only to see his son Barry Allen examining  the crime scene. Instantly heading over towards the CSI who shoots him a grim expression upon noticing him.

"You hear what happened?" Barry questions while standing to head over towards the car

"Yes. You think it's Black Siren?"

The lanky brunette hesitates before turning to face him full on.

"Well, yeah but the little girl was in the car and then she wasn't. The mother said the last time she saw her daughter was when she sent her back to the car. You and I both know the Flash didn't save her, so what? Siren's turning over a new leaf and if she was, why scream at them in the first place"

"To send a message? I mean this is the road people take to head to Star City."

"Think she's going after Oliver"

"Wouldn't put it past her" Joe states rather simply as Barry looks around at the crime scene hoping he could find where Black Siren was heading.

Gripping his son on the shoulder, Joe pats him reassuringly as he moves to look around the woods. An idea sparks in his head as he leaves Barry in favor of heading towards the mother who was watching as they loaded her daughter onto the ambulance.

"Excuse Me" Joe begins catching the woman's attention "I'm Detective West"

"Mia Dearden" the blonde woman exclaims in form of greeting, except she doesn't put her hand out to be shaken.

"I'd like to apologize about what happened. I know you want to get back to your daughter so I won't take up too much of your time but I heard that you guys stopped to help this woman, Can you describe anything about her that made you guys stop to try and help her?"

"Yeah. She was injured. Uh-she looked beat up pretty bad. My daughter made a comment about her looking like she was going to die, an over exaggeration but she looked worse for wear."

"Thank you" Detective West exclaims while sending her a small smile "I know a few people who specialize in Meta-Humans. We'll find her for you"

"Honestly, I don't really care what happens to her. She could die in the forest or be brought to justice, I'll sleep better either way." With that she turns from the detective, to get inside the ambulance with her daughter.

Narrowing his eyes at the woman's retreating form, he then looks over at Barry who was walking towards him.

"You had that look earlier, the look that says you're onto something" Barry states while shifting his weight from side to side, itching to do something.
