Gingerboy woke up to loud sounds that originated somewhere in his room. He tried to keep himself half-asleep so it would be easier for him to continue the dream he had been having. His tiredness took over and in no time he couldn't even hear the noises anymore.
"Boy get your ass up and go to school!" Gingerboy snapped awake again as his sleep was interrupted by his father's yelling. It took him some time to gather enough strength to open his eyes but as the yelling went on, he was forced to stop sleeping. The situation dawned to him and as he realized what was going on, he got up so quickly that he hit his head on the wall.
"What are you doing?" he shouted out after rubbing his head to get rid of the pain and turning to his parent throwing his things out of the open window.
"I warned you clearly that if I have to reply to your teacher calling for you one more time," he took a pile of clothes from the floor. "I will throw all your fucking things out of this house."
Gingerboy was still sleepy so it took him a while to react to seeing his clothes flying out of the window. He was about to take his phone from the table to check what time it was so it could help him explain himself. His father beat him to it and snatched the phone from his hand, sending it out the window in the same manner than the clothes. The mobile hit the ledge on its way out and Gingerboy could already picture the screen shattering.
"My alarm never went off!" Ginger yelled, swearing to himself that if his alarm had rang, he sure would be in school already.
"You say that every time, you brat," the old man spat, making Gingerboy feel helpless. Next thing to go out of the window was the lamp from his table which had been yanked from its position quickly. Gingerboy had covered his head by instinct because he had thought he would get hit with it.
"It's not my fault!" he kept yelling after revealing his head again. He knew he couldn't defend himself with words but he couldn't help getting angry.
"Yes it is."
"No, no, not that!" Gingerboy raised his voice even more as he saw his father grabbing his skateboard that had been on the floor along with other things. He stood up, not even caring about the fact that he was still wearing nothing but underwear.
He tried to take the board away from his foster parent but wasn't fast enough and saw the piece of wood snapping in half against the old man's knee. Both pieces flew out and anger started boiling inside of Gingerboy.
"How can you do that!" he turned to his father and by instinct his hand came up. It was stopped before he could hit his father - by his inner moral and the parent himself - and he received a slap instead.
"If I see your face again I will beat you up," were the last words he got before he was left standing alone in the middle of the room. The door slammed shut behind his father and he started to go through what was left to find clothes.
Not caring about style, he just threw something on and ran through the house to get out. His father noticed it but didn't say anything since his wish was to see the boy leave anyways.
It had started raining already and Gingerboy quickly ran to his window to save his phone and clothes that were in a pile on the dirty ground. He picked up his clothes, backpack and pieces of skateboard, not caring much about the lamp or other useless things. He ran without thinking and just followed his feet which eventually led him to Spotlight - the only place he could just barge in and get cover from the rain.
There was no one else there at such time of the day but since the place was open during the days even when the owner wasn't there, he could get in just fine and make his way in the backroom without anyone noticing. He threw his things on the floor, the clothes soaking with rainwater.
