Chapter 26

Author’s P.O.V

"Baby, I’ll be right back, okay? I’m just gonna go to the bathroom. I’ll meet you in class," Selena said. Justin nodded to her and turned his body to hers, leaning down to kiss her fully on the mouth. He stroked her cheek with his thumb caressing her tender skin. His lips lingered as he pulled away. "I love it when you do that,” she smiled brightly up at him, making him do the same. He watched as Selena left down the hall, taking a corner into the girls’ bathroom. But he couldn’t help to notice the way her smile faltered just as she turned to leave.

Justin shook the concern away, knowing that she was still recovering from a few nights ago. He made his own way to anatomy class and sat down at his table that he shared with Selena.

They had skipped that last Friday of school, giving Selena the weekend to calm down about the incident; although Justin knows she’s not over it. She tries to act okay, but Justin can read the little signs she unknowingly gives away. She had been staying at his house for the weekend, going back to her house frequently to check on her family. But she wasn’t comfortable with staying there for too long. Kurt had turned himself into the police that Friday in the afternoon. He knew he would be found and taken into custody one way or another. But much to everyone’s dismay, by the end of the weekend he was able to get his brother to pay the bail for his freedom.

The bell rang signaling the start of class, and Selena still hadn’t returned. Justin wasn’t really worried as it’s not a big deal to the teacher if you’re late. So he figured she was probably just taking her time through the halls. But as the time went on and class was almost over, Justin couldn’t keep his eyes from the doorfor more than five seconds. Where the hell was she? He watched the clock on the wall, each second ticking by making him more anxious.

"Ms. D, can I go to the bathroom?" He asked impatiently. Ms. Duane gave him the okay and Justin covertly slipped his drawstring bag with him out the door. He didn’t plan on returning for the class.

Justin walked the halls to the bathroom that Selena entered. He instantly heard her soft sobs and his brows pushed upward in concern. He followed the sounds to find her in the last stall. She suddenly went quiet.

"Selena hunny?" He spoke though the door.

Her cries got silent. “Go away, Justin.” He heard her crackled voice.

"Baby, what’s wrong?"

"Justin I’ll be out in a minute okay?"

"Selena, I’m not gonna leave you when I know you’ve been in here crying for the last forty-five minutes." His words triggered her to start crying again.

"Babe, just open the door,” he said softly.

"No," she cried.

He sighed heavily, walking into the stall next to her. “So fucking stubborn,” he mumbled to himself. He planted his feet firmly on the edge of the toilet, placing his hands at the top of the wall separating him from Selena. He lifted his body up and athletically swung his legs over the wall, landing on his feet.
