Bam! Bam! Bam!
“Coming!” a voice all too familiar called out to Christina. The door opened and she hurriedly walked in.
“Chrissy? What—how did you?”
Christina waved him off, “Never mind all that. My father kicked me out. Said I was a disgrace--well not really but he might of well have said it. He told me I’m no child of his and that if I wanted to be with you I could leave.”
“So you left?”
“No. Well not at first but you see. He forced me, forced me! To get out. Other than that I would have stayed. I’m sorry babe but I would have.”
“I know I know, come here,” he says pulling her into his arms, “You are a racing mess. “
“So you’re not mad?” she asks in a muffled voice.
“No, my main concern is how you managed to get over here with the sun up. Are you okay my lady?” he asks checking her out.
“Why yes. Fine actually. I’ve never felt better. Now you and I can be together my lord.”
“No Chrissy, we can’t.”
She frowns, “Why not? You said if my father ever let you, we would run off together. Get married and have kids and do all the things people who are in love do.”
“That's the thing Chrissy. That can’t happen. It will never happen, not in this lifetime.”
“What? I don’t quite understand where you are coming from my lord. Please can you give me an example. For I fear that I am lost.”
“Chrissy,” he kisses her forehead, “You are the king's daughter and although he may have said such things out of anger, he will not rest until he finds you. If you really want to be together you must leave, disappear into the daylight. For which he cannot find you in the light.”
Christina breaks off into a frenzy, “But, but—I love you and we are suppose to be together and love each other forever and ever. You don’t love me? Never had, have you? Oh my dear lord I’m sorry for mistaking your kindness for love. Won't happen again," she said bowing her head and walking towards the door.
“Christina!” he shouts at her, “Stop. Stop this nonsense. Of course I love you and one day you will become my wife just not today.”
“Why shoot me lies Ethan, for I have not gained your trust for you to tell me the truth?”
“Chrissy, of course. There are just some restrictions that are causing us the delay of marriage.”
“No. No. I won’t have it. No obstacle can keep us apart. None! Do you hear me Ethan, nothing can keep us apart.”
Ethan closes his eyes to take a deep breath and brace himself for the hurt he is about to cause both of them, “Yes Chrissy, something can. I’m sorry but, we can’t be together.”
“No! You’re lying. I can feel it.”
“Damn it Chrissy. Why can’t you just accept it? Come on I have to show you something.”
Ethan guides her down the basement. Before he opened the door to the basement he said, “This is a secret I’m showing and telling you. You must not say a word.”
“I won’t.”
“I’m serious Chrissy. You must be open-minded too.”
“Sure whatever. Show me.”
“Okay.” He opens the door and takes her down the long spiral staircase. He stops on the step right before the floor. She was so heavy on his tail that she mistakingly ran right into his muscular back, letting out a grunt. He looks over his shoulder and shushes her. She nods. He yells out, “Danny!”
