Calum's POV

She picks at the lint on her jeans and flick them away.

The tiny specks are suspended in the air before fluttering around in search for something else to latch onto.

Some of them become lost in the darkness, and fall astray from the dim beams of lights.

She fixes her eyes at the mirror across the room and studies her reflection.

The songs seem to be muffled as we sat quietly.

Time stood still.

Well, everything slows down when I'm with Danny.

We could talk for an hour, and it would feel like days.

I return to what was left of my BLT and tried to chew as quietly as I could.

With a few bites left, Danny turns back to her laptop and continues to scroll through Tumblr.

Time passes when we share a few laughs at the embarrassing gifs and funny posts. Ashton eventually finds us and calls me back for soundcheck.

I wave goodbye and gently close the door behind me.

Ashton speaks up when we were an earshot away.

"Why won't you tell her how you feel?" he asks.

I try to act baffled and brush it off.

"What are you talking about?" A nervous laugh slips through my lips.

"Don't try to pretend that you don't like her" he smirks.

"Well I can't be with her," I sigh.

"The contract's only there to prevent gossip, and you know that."

"She just sees me as her friend..."

"Did she ever say that?"

"Well... no."

"So don't assume that."

He bumps shoulders with mine and gives me a hopeful smile.

"I'm pretty sure that everyone knows that you're not just a friend to her," he laughs.

I raise my eyebrow and wait for him to go on.

"You guys are together more that you are with us." Unsure of what to say, I give him a doubtful shrug. "Look. I see the way you guys are together, and it's not just friends."

I wanted to believe him, but I couldn't help but feel skeptical to think that she liked me back.

"Come on guys! Only a few more songs left for the set!"

Greg waves us over to the front of the stage and signals for someone to turn on the spotlights.

"Trust me," Ashton gives me a small pat on the back and walks to his drum set.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't let the colors fade to grey
We'll never be as young as we are now
As young as we are now
Oh whoa whoa oh, oh oh oh
Oh whoa whoa oh
The last chord echos out into the invisible crowd and fades away.
Greg walks over and hands us bottles of water.
"Great job guys, that's it for today."
We all let out a small cheer and take a long drink.
The energy dies down as we take a seat on the floor in defeat.
My heartbeat eventually slows down and matches up with the pace of my breathing.
I look out to the foot of the stage and see Danny with a few other crew members unpacking their camera equipment.
Her hair fell past her shoulders and was still tucked underneath my beanie.
Their groups soft murmurs turn into laughs.
She looks up and slowly connects eyes with me.
We share a shy smile across the room.
"What?" she mouths.
I shrug and smile.
When I look back up to her direction, she had her phone pointed in my direction.
I give her a confused look as she grins behind her phone.
This time, it was my turn to mouth "What?"
She continues grinning for a few more seconds before pointing behind me.
I turn around to see pairs of legs behind me.
Tilting my head back, the guys were silently thrusting their hips at the back of my head.
They bursted out laughing when I finally noticed.
"You guys are such idiots," I chuckled.
  I swat their legs away to make a thrust-free-zone away from my face.
"Like that look isn't just friends," Ashton whispers.
I sat there with my mouth parted open, but nothing came out.
She gives me another dimpled smile before returning back to work.
How can a girl like her like someone like me?  I thought.
If only I knew.
