Chapter Thirteen

2weeks later; Prom Day:

Janae P.O.V

Today was Saturday.We didn't have school yesterday. I guess it was a teachers work day or something. But prom was later on this evening. It's been crazy the past few weeks. Prom and graduation has been on everybody's mind.

A lot of things started to go in the right direction for a change. I'm sure everyone was just ready to graduate and get this on and over with, I know I was.

It was about 10 in the morning, and I knew I needed to start getting prepared for tonight. There was so much to do in such a short amount of time. My nails, hair, and makeup needed attention. So I got up and freshened up in the bathroom. When that was done, I put on some Victoria's Secret sweat pants and t-shirt with some flip flops. I quickly put my hair in a messy ponytail.

I texted the girls before I left the house. Telling them that I was headed to the nail salon.

I walked out the house, locked the door, and headed to B-Nails.

The salon wasn't that far from where I live. It was about 10 minutes. I got to B-Nails , and pulled in the parking lot. I saw the girls cars already here. I parked and went inside.

Nae, I swear you be taking forever, and you the closest one here. Monique said laughing.

Shut up, were y'all already on this side of town or something? I asked.

Yeah, cause we went to go get breakfast at Denny's. And there's only four Denny's here in Carolina. And this is closest to the nail shop. Montinique said.

Well damn why wasn't I invited?? I questioned.

Uuuuhhhmmmm Rashun, Kelsey , and myself called you. And you didn't pick up. Renee said.

Hmmmmmmmm whatever. I said while walking to the table to get my nails did.

What time y'all leaving to the center?

I don't know. Kalvin supposed to be coming over at like 6, so I guess whenever we leave my parents. Kelsey said.

Oooohh okay.

Yeah, but I was going to call y'all so you knew that I was headed there, when I left the house. Kishon said.

I mean that's fine. As long as we're all there together. I said.

Yes MA'AM . Rashun yelled.

Girl YOUR YELLING IS RIDICULOUS. I YELLED.

Act like y'all got some kind of sense. Kelsey added.

We all bust out laughing.

It took us all about an hour or so to finish with our nails. We left the salon and went our separate ways, until we met back up later at the center for prom.

I was headed to the hair salon to get my hair curled and pinned. I scheduled an appointment for 12:30, which was plenty of time for me.

I walked into the salon and I saw Jocelyn underneath the hair dryer. I was sort of hoping that she didn't notice me , but she did. I really wasn't trying to talk to her really. Like I have no problem with her but, she's not an important factor in my life.

*starts to laugh* girl you're funny.

*looks at her sideways* I wasn't trying to be funny, I was telling the truth. I said sarcastically ..

But who are you going to prom with??

Logan, who else would I go to fucking prom with??

I walked away and got in the seat, to get my hair washed. She took about 10 minutes to wash my hair. When I got up to go her chair, Jocelyn was eyeing me down. Like I hate when people look at me the wrong way, it really makes me want to jump across the room or wherever and just knock a bitch out. But I don't. I try to keep calm.

My hair dresser rolled my hair, so that I could go under the dryer for about an hour. I was under there for about an hour and thirty minutes . It went by faster than I expected.

Okay mami, come to my chair so I can pin you up.

Yes ma'am, I'm coming.

I got to the chair and sat down. I didn't want her to straighten my hair. So I told her to pin my hair up when I scheduled the appointment.

She put a few golden brown streaks in as well. My hair was on point, if I do say so myself.

About 5 minutes later, she was done. She did an amazing job. I just knew that once I put my dress on, couldn't nobody tell me nothing.

I laughed. I gave her a $15 tip. Then I went to checkout and paid for my hair appointment. It was $45 but, totally worth it.
