"Mommy! There are gifts under the tree" my 1 year old son says. "Let's wait for daddy." I say. "Santa came! Santa came!" He sings while jumping around the entry way.
Then the front door opens and in comes Isco. "Hey daddy! Jake says running up to him. Isco picks him up and spins him in the air. "Merry Christmas son." He kisses him on the cheek.
"Hey baby" I say while going up to him and giving him a kiss. "Hey baby I brought some extra gifts" he says while lifting his hand revealing a bag full of gifts. "Jake, I met Santa today and he gave me more gifts for you and mommy." He says as Jake looks at them excitedly.
"Set them down under the tree and we'll start opening them." I grab Jakes hand and guide him back to the living room.
Isco and I sit on the couch wrapped in a blanket, I grab his hand and play with his fingers as we watch Jake open his presents.
"I have a gift for you Dorien" Isco says while giving me a beautifully wrapped gift. I rip the paper off and start to tear up. It's a photo album of me and Isco. "Isco, I love it!" I say while tears collect in the brim of my eyes.
There were photos of me and Isco when we were young. Our first day of school; us in the playground; us at graduation; me and Jake at his match; and our wedding photos. There was a empty space.
Isco gets up and pulls me in with him. He takes out a camera and he picks up Jake. "Say cheese." He says while the light flashes. He takes the photo and puts it in the book.
"Merry Christmas my lovely family." Isco says and kisses us both.
