~Noelle~
I make my way down through the airport, trying to find my way to the front door. This proves to be more difficult than I originally thought.
There are so many different hallways in this place. All I can do is to follow the signs to the luggage claim, and then follow the signs to the nearest store with coffee. After walking around for several minutes I finally come upon the luggage claim. I sat there waiting forever until I saw my burgundy suitcase come around the carousel towards me.
I leaned over, and grab my bag off the carousel. I had seen a little shop while I was on my way to the luggage claim that smelled a lot like coffee. So since I am in desperate need of some caffeine I immediately head towards the shop.
I eventually get to the front counter of the shop after waiting in a line that streamed out of the door. The shop smelled almost a Starbucks, but with a tinge McDonald's. It is a little weird, but it wasn't to bad. All I cared about was getting to the coffee.
"Hello, welcome to The Mugshot Cafe, what can I get for you today." the barista asks, he was cute but I am more interested in the coffee.
"Can I get a venti Iced Vanilla Latte with extra vanilla, please?" I ask as I dig around in my purse for my wallet.
"Sure. Can I have a name for the order. And that will be $5.59." he replies as he punches it into the register. I finally pull my wallet from my monstrosity of a purse, and count out the payment for my savior in an apron.
"Here ya go and the name is Noelle." I said as I handed the barista the payment. He counts it just to make sure that it was the right amount, and then he deposits it into the register.
"Your order should be out shortly," the barista says. I move to the side to let the other many customers order their caffeine fix. It didn't take long before my name was called out.
"I got an order for Noelle" I look up to the counter and seen my wonderful savior in a apron sitting there waiting for me. I run to the counter, grab my drink, and taste my lifesaver. It was delicious. I walk off with my drink in hand, and my suitcase by my side to see if I can find the front of the airport, where hopefully I can grab a cab to a hotel.
After about twenty minutes, I eventually find the front entrance of the airport with a little help from a couple of New Yorkers. Once I make it outside I look around for the place where I can flag a taxi. As it turns it out there is a huge line for getting a cab. Well, that's just great. I totally want to wait on cab after a long flight, please note the sarcasm. Since I really don't have a choice, I walk to the back of the line and wait. After about another twenty minutes, I finally make it to the front of the line.
There is a airport worker that is helping the passengers with their luggage. I guess you could also call the worker an attendant. Anyways back to the cab situation. So I finally get a cab flagged down for me by the attendant, and as I get in to the cab, the attendant put my luggage into the trunk of the cab. As the driver pulls away from the curb, I begin to search for hotels on my phone for inns or hotels that are nearby. I finally find one called the Cedar Arrow Hotel. It has a few great reviews so I think that I will check it out.
"The Cedar Arrow Hotel please." I told the driver. He stopped at a stoplight and quickly put the name of the hotel into the GPS that he had on his dashboard. The light turns green right about the time that the GPS showed the directions to the hotel. It was only about a ten minute drive.
The front door wasn't much to look at but I am more interested in the rooms anyways. So the driver got out and pulls my luggage from the trunk. I dig around in my purse to get the money for the driver. My purse can probably double as a backpack to be honest. It is one of those huge purses that could fit a everything in the kitchen including the sink. Eventually I find my wallet at the very bottom of my purse.
"What do I owe you?" I ask the driver. He is waiting patiently by my suitcase for his payment.
"$9.50, miss." he replies once he looked at the dial on his dashboard. Dang these New York cabs are expensive. I pull out a ten dollar bill and hand it to the driver.
"Keep the change." I feel kind of bad that it was only a $.50 tip so I add another three dollars. He gives me a grateful grin, and a nod before he climbs back into his cab and drove away. I lift the handle of my suitcase and drag it into the hotel.
The lobby is absolutely beautiful. There was a wall of different colored wood panels and on another wall there was a pink light the was surrounded on two sides by two green ombre lights. It is the perfect lighting for the room. There is also some extra light filtering in from the open window that has the curtains pulled apart for that reason. It also has two staircases, one that seems to lead to a breakfast area, and the other seems to lead to the rooms that are located above the lobby. Then near the back, there is the reception desk. It isn't really as decorative as the rest of the room, but it did fit the room.
I lug my suitcases to the reception desk, and there is a stern looking lady tapping away at the computer in front of her. Once I come to stand in front of her, she greets me with a standard hospital greeting.
"Hello and welcome to the Cedar Arrow Hotel, how can I help you." her scratchy voice makes its way though the air. I have now officially begun my journey.
