Five Little Monkeys

A black car sped fast through the vast field of corns near Bristol, smashing and crunching some with its tires. The heavy winds rattled and crashed against its surface with an effort to keep the car's speed down which could rip the winds and could create a hollow of nothingness.

There was no response to this as loud music was booming inside. Those four window glasses shook with terror and were just about to burst with continuous intense pressure when the car halted out of the blue with a shrieky screech and the figures inside it floated toward the front window frame.

Now it was only the sounds of dogs barking  coming from a distant. Everything became dead silent, even the wristwatches were afraid to make a sound. Everyone was anxious about the outrageous outcome of this carelessness.

Standing in one-eighty degree angle in front of this car was a red car with shattered windows and a broken mirror. In spite of those wrecks, none was harmed or injured and none was dead either. Inside of the black car, there were five teenagers, probably returning home from a party. The car had broken its headlights, the fender and the hood got crumpled.

Everyone except Shailene was sure of nothing bad had happened. But Shailene had this curiously nagging sensation that someone might be hurt. Prisa, her boyfriend tried to console her by saying, "Babe, look, nobody cried, nobody is coming outta that damn car. Chillax!" Probably the shock has caused her going nuts and all, he thought to himself. After few chillingly silent moments, Zade spoke gripping the steering wheel tightly, "Look, we should leave right now. I don't know if anybody's hurt or not. But if no one's coming out and not moving the vehicle either, then we should really get going." This is not a good sign! , He murmured mentally.

Beads of fearful palpitation were forming on their temples. Suddenly,  Shailene spilled out courageously, "I must go and check if anybody's hurt or I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight." Then she looked at her best friend, Charlotte who in turn looked at Ginger, her lover. After a few times of reciprocating gazes with each other, they nodded in unison.

Ginger was a girl of great empathy who never liked to leave poor and helpless people behind but at times like this, she too got frightened to think straight. She pondered emotionally, Anyway, I have to go there with Charl even if some weirdo come running after me. She can't go alone with that skinny friend of hers.

Suddenly, a realization hit Charlotte hard, "Wait, this car," She pointed towards the red one which was still unmoving and in the same place, "was standing here when we hit it. Right? It didn't move. People didn't shout or wanted us to show our faces. Nothing? How's this possible? I mean, if somebody is there, why wouldn't he or she doing anything except sitting inside the car."

"Making out." Prisa blurted out, not being capable of holding back his habit of joking.

All the girls rolled their eyes, again in unison. Zade told him to shut up. It was Shailene's turn now, "We can't say anything unless we see for ourselves."

"Ya or the person inside can be dead already," Ginger suggested, but recomposed her sentence to shoot the scared pairs of eyes with comfort, "I, uh, I meant to say that the person, urgh! the car, you see, was already situated there like it was there since forever. So, I think the driver or whoever is there isn't conscious now as there is no sign of movement witnessed." She puffed out a breath of relief as soon as she was finished with her thesis.

Zade suggested, "We can call the police."

"There's no damn network here. Shit!" Prisa cursed while shaking his phone, searching for the four polls. Everyone dug out their cellphones and did the same. After some worthless inspection, they all gave up. Afraid, tired and agitated, they hushed down, perhaps lost in their own foggy thoughts.

Their car suddenly rumbled to life again as Zade pull up the gear and said, "Look, guys, I'm sorry. Trust me, this is not a place to chill and chat. No! We should get going. Okay? Please!" He looked at the three through the review mirror, and then glanced beside him at Shailene. Wait, where was she?

"Shailene?"

"Shailene, where are you?"

Everyone was calling out for her but none got out of their car. Shailene White was gone when Zade was about to start the engine and drove off. Charlotte was the first to call out her name while peeking through the window beside her.

"What the fuck are you doing?", Ginger gasped and pulled her close by her hand, then reeled up the glass furiously. "Don't ever risk your life like that ever." She warned her lover out of nervousness.

Charlotte crooked her eyebrows together with annoyance and shouted, " Don't be stupid and jealous. Shail is out there and I am her best friend. I, actually we, need to get outside to find her." Then she jerked her hand free out of her hurt girlfriend's grasp, " For fuck's sake, don't be a douchebag once!" After her anger at Ginger subsided a little, she faced Prisa. "And Mr. Prisa Tyler, what do you think you are doing by doing nothing? Are you really her boyfriend? Because I don't think she ever loves someone who is so selfish and equally stupid." She spat those rough words while putting on her cardigan, ready to investigate.

Prisa narrowed his eyes in a slit, arranging the words he always wanted to say, to confess to her now. He was always worried about these two girls' friendship would harm their love relationship. Zade William sensed the flaming tension between them and spoke out too loudly, "Hey, hey, why don't we the get ours butts out on the street and find out what is going on?" He then looked at the stoned car and the empty road, " I'm sure she's there." And he pointed his finger towards that direction as well.

"Right." Charlotte hurriedly unlocked the door and jumped off on the ground. First Jade, Ginger, and then Prisa followed by.

"This (bitch Shailene, she used to address her mentally with this special name) will one day break our relationships, I'm sure about that." Ginger Lee whispered into the ears of Prisa, scrunching her nose as cool winds touched her exposed skins. Prisa replied, "Wait, kid, just wait and watch how I end their friendship first. I am just in search of a golden opportunity. Chillax!" , He scanned their surroundings and saw nobody is listening to them, "And this is going to happen very soon." The words, "very soon" rolled off his tongue like a warmed up ice cream, smoothly enough to send chills.

And then it happened.

Shocking their hearts with revulsion, a deafening cry of pure dread split the thick layer of daunting silence, rose up and reached to hell and back.

That's Shailene. Charl thought with emerging dread.
