"So how did you find out about the... meeting?" Piper asked Draco and Pansy as they walked back to the Slytherin common room the night of the last DA meeting.

"One of your students that you tutor, Callum," replied Pansy.

Piper stuttered half a step. "Callum?"

As soon as they entered the common room, she made a beeline for Amelia. "Where's Callum?"

"In his dorm," said Amelia, alarmed at the sudden urgency.

Piper hurried to the first year boys and knocked on the door. It swung open, revealing another Slytherin.

"Is Callum here?" Piper asked.

The boy smirked. "Yeah, he is."

Callum appeared slowly, not looking at Piper.

"Did you tell Draco and Pansy about... the lessons?" She asked gently.

Callum looked like responding was the last thing he wanted to do but Piper didn't use charmspeak. Slowly, he shrugged vaguely.

"Why?" Piper demanded, the caught her voice. "I— I'm just wondering."

"It was Draco!" Callum finally wailed. "He— he made me tell, And he said that Um— Umbridge w-would exp-p-pel me if I ref-fused to ta-alk!"

"Hey, hey, Callum, calm down," Piper said soothingly. "It's okay. Next time, just tell me, 'kay?"

Callum steadied his breathing, his face flushed. Piper had to remind herself that Callum wasn't a third grader, and she took on a more mature tone as if she was speaking to someone else her age.

"Well, things are changing now," she said, standing up. "Just think, at least you're not expelled."

Callum nodded gloomily, and Piper gave one last reassuring pat before returning to her own dorms.

The next morning, news that Callum had revealed them spread quickly, though Piper had no idea how it got out. But as soon as she stepped foot into the Great Hall, Zachariah, Cedric, and Cho cornered Piper.

"Is it true?" Cedric asked immediately. "That first year Slytherin let it out?"

Piper reluctantly nodded.

Zachariah's face contorted into anger. "I knew it!" He hissed. "I knew we couldn't trust you Slytherins!"

"Hey!" Piper snapped. "Give the kid a break, okay? Callum is a FIRST YEAR. Draco Malfoy cornered him. I'd like to see you face him, you wimp."

She left the three standing by the doors and went to sit down next to Pansy. The other DA students were shooting furtive glanced at the Slytherins, but thankfully they all had the tact and self control to remain seated.

That was when Leo decided to add to the hustle of the morning by setting the wall of decrees on fire.
