Dream Walker: Will Byers X Reader Fanfic

Football Field

Will's POV

Our party was made up of seven people, Eleven, Two and Max had all joined and things were almost back to normal. It was a nice feeling, Mike had Eleven, Lucas and Dustin had Max- but I got the feeling Max would choose Lucas... call it a hunch- and I had Two... sort of. Well, I hoped in the future, after all this was over, we could be like Mike and Eleven. Right now, I couldn't imagine my life without her.

Except for my flashbacks, things were calm at school.
That is, until Dustin found his pet Dart.

"What is that thing?! Ugh!" The slimy thing leapt on my hand and it indeed felt like a giant moving booger.

Strangely, Dart avoided Two's hands, and she stood there looking confused, yet like she was thinking deeply. I wondered if Dustin's pet came from the Upside Down, but surely I would have seen it. That is, until I heard the sound it made, it was a medium-pitched chittering. I'd heard that before. I glanced at Two and saw that she shared the same expression I had, one of slight confusion and fear.

Suddenly, Dart jumped off the table and skittered out of the room. All seven of us groaned as we realised we'd let a potentially dangerous, alien pet loose in the school.

Just great.

We all ran after Dart, but he was out of our sights faster than you could say stop.

Mike told us all to split up, I went with Two and we quickly ran to the bathrooms to see if he had escaped there. I wanted to ask Two about Dart, but figured it would be easier if we found him first, before asking questions.

We checked each cubicle, before finding Dart in the last one. He was hunched up in a corner, and we both froze. I signalled Dustin on my radio, before turning to Two. She was just staring at Dart, slightly panting, and not just from the running.

"Two... Two snap out of it!" She gasped, blinking as her eyes refocussed.
"I'm sorry Will... I just"

"What, what is it?"

"I've heard them before, I didn't know about them I promise!" She turned to me with a fervent, worried expression.

"It's ok, we'll decide what to do with it. But I don't think it's safe for Dustin to keep it. And Two... I've heard them before. You're not crazy."
She huffed under her breathe. "Yes I am" She whispered.
"Then we can be crazy together" I took her hand, before I felt a familiar pull.

Not again, this couldn't be happening!

Your POV

We were in the Upside Down again.

"Will, come back to me. Will, we can do this, I can bring you back!" But he wouldn't listen. His eyes followed the bright red and black lights outside the school, he walked towards the monster despite my tugging at his arms in the other direction.

I was so afraid. The monster was closer, and it wanted Will!

I sprinted towards the shadow, drawing dead trees to surround it in hopes of throwing the monster off. It looked briefly in my direction, growling as a warning to me, but I was at a loss of what else to do.

I had gotten us into this mess, and I was sure as hell going to get at least one of us out! I stood in front of Will, screaming at the monster.

"Get away from him! It's me you want!"

It raged, turning impossibly darker, as if it was charging up its core to attack.

"Take me instead... I created you, and it's me you want!"

The monster was in no means individually intelligent, but it seemed to consider my offer. I had no idea why it wanted Will, and after I had given rise to the monster it had developed a mind of its own.

It heaved a massive roar, reaching out towards us. I tried to control it's shadow-limbs away from Will, and the monster seemed to comply, happy to exert its power over at least one intruder. Will still stood there, looking petrified, and I was just glad I had distracted the monster.

I ran further into a forest, away from the field and suddenly the monster swept into me.

I felt it crawling on the inside. It seemed to engulf me from the inside out, and I could do nothing to stop it.

All I could do was attempt to scream, but all I heard was the loud, vengeful hissing of a monster at its creator.

Will's POV

I gasped and opened my eyes suddenly, my mum was shaking me awake, staring at me worriedly. I was ok, I was here! I wasn't in the Upside Down anymore.

I looked around at all my friends who seemed scared and genuinely concerned.

My breathing had only slowed slightly, when I remembered.
