Hope

When Darcie's yells and Negan's laughter couldn't be heard anymore, all the girls rushed over to Jo. They all fused over her, asking if she was alright and what not. Jo didn't need or want their help. She hardly knew them. Jo didn't take the time to even get to know their names in the year that she had been there. She didn't want to get attached to people, that would end up hurting her someway, in the end. But yet, one slipped through the cracks in her walls, Darcie.

With the sound of her name in Jo's head, she shot up from the floor and stomped to the door. She didn't know where she would go, but she didn't want to be bombarded by those bimbos anymore.

Jo walked and walked until she found stairs. She climbed all the way to the top floor and straight to the only closed door. She hoped it would lead outside. It did and she thanked God it was unlocked. Jo took her shoes off and put them between the door and the door frame. She didn't want the chance of being locked outside. Inside the Sanctuary was horrible but dying on a roof was worse.

Once she knew the door wasn't going anywhere, she turned and walked to the railing. Underneath her were walkers on poles, to scare off intruders and scare insiders to keep them inside. In front of her was forest, forest as far as her eye could see. How she longed to be out in it. She rather take her chance in there by herself, than in the Sanctuary with Negan.

Jo spent awhile daydreaming on the roof. A handful of hours at least. The sun was starting to set. She could hear people talking now. Walking over to the other side of the roof, she saw the culprits. Dwights gang. They were heading out for some reason. They jumped on several motorcycles, started them up and drove off. Jo's eye caught something behind where the bikes once were. A weak area in the fence. It was the fence between them and the walkers on poles. But that didn't matter. It was a potential escape.

Jo's hope flourished inside her chest and throughout her body. She ran over to the door, grabbed her shoes and sneaked inside, shutting the door silently. It was dinner time, so everyone would be busy. So Jo took this opportunity to quietly slip into her room and get her things in order. Jo didn't have much but she grabbed a backpack she had and threw some practical clothes in it. She also put some water bottles and granola bars in. She looked around her room feeling like she was forgetting something. "Ah, how could I have forgotten you", she whispered to herself, while grabbing a necklace that was hiding underneath a book on her desk. The necklace was the only thing she had left of her family, that she was taken away from. Aside from her memories, of course. Jo took a second to fiddle with the necklace, thinking of her best friend Daryl and if he was looking for her still.

Jo put the necklace around her neck and tucked it into her bra. Then she replaced the dress she was wearing with jean, a long sleeve shirt and tennis shoes. Figuring she had everything together, Jo sat on the bed and planned out her escape. She would leave that night.
