Jae was unable to answer as he bit down on his lips furiously. "I'm not fine....No matter where I look I only see you, and I'm immediately reminded of how stupid I was to lose you." He confessed with a choked voice as Eunji strained to breathe through her tears, wishing that nothing had gone wrong between them.

"Why wasn't I enough...?" Jae swallowed the urge to cry out, to tell her that he loved her, to tell her that she was more than enough....And to tell her that he wasn't Jin. "It wasn't like that, my loneliness got the best of me and now, I'm paying the price of my irrational decisions. You didn't do anything wrong, you did the best that you can. I guess...I just want to know if it's possible for you to forgive me." He murmured whilst swiping at his tears, as Eunji reluctantly shook her head slowly.

"I'm sorry, Jin." Eunji breathed before hanging up on the call and slumped against the counter, convulsing as she wrapped her arms around herself. Hye-jin ran to coddle the crying figure as Eunji tightly clung to her best friend. "I thought I had already gotten over him....Hye, I'm so useless..." She wept as Hye-jin blinked back her own tears while she stroked Eunji's back. "Shhh...Come on, you know better than to call yourself that. You still love him, and that's fine. Everyone heals at a different rate."

~ 2 years later ~

Jae settled his suitcase onto the ground outside of the airport, whilst taking a whiff of the air in Korea that he missed dearly. "She probably still hates me...To be more specific, Jin." He muttered while ordering an Uber, he shivered in his light grey hoodie and grey sweatpants. His clothes weren't suited for the cold winter air in Korea. "Fuck, it's freezing and the damn driver is taking so long!" He cursed to himself as girls that passed him by sighed over his divine looks.

"Eunji, can we meet? I came back to Korea." He texted, hesitant on pushing the send button, not knowing what that text would lead to.

Eunji had buried her face in her pillow, stretching her limbs until her phone pinged. It was a text from Jin. "I thought he already moved on." She muttered, sighing deeply as she tentatively punched the keys to provide him a reply. "Sure, where do you want to meet?" Eunji knew she would regret the decision, but she'd rather drown in the same mistakes than lose Jin the second time around.

"Please tell me it's safe to see you again." She murmured as she went to get ready, placing a hand over her wildly beating heart to attempt to calm it down.

His leg shook as his eyes scoured the cafe, hoping to catch a glimpse of Eunji. To finally meet the girl of his dreams, although she's unaware of his feelings.

She plopped down onto the seat in front of him silently, which didn't garner his attention until he turned to look at the door and noticed Eunji herself, in front of him. "Eunji.." He breathed, in awe and out of surprise that she actually came to meet him. "Jin." She acknowledged him but avoided looking into his eyes, afraid of seeing the love and care in his eyes that would break her resolve to stay away.

If only she knew, it wasn't Jin's eyes that she was looking into, yet it elicited the same mood from her. She felt treasured and loved from the look in his eyes. "Why'd you want to meet me? Didn't we already clear everything up over FaceTime?" She grumbled as her eyes traveled down to her lap, counting the denim creases on her upper thigh.

While Jae was left tongue-tied, how was he to answer her? "I missed you, I didn't want things to end because of my mistake. You mean too much to me for me to let you go without putting up a fight." The words flew out of his mouth before he could even react, however, he hoped they worked in his favor.

The crisp air swirled around his words as their eyes were locked in contact, his expression reminded Eunji of when they had fought at one point in the past and she carelessly snapped at him that she wanted to break up. She was quick to snatch back that unforgivable sentence but Jin was faster to grasp her hand and yanked her towards him. "I won't give you up without a fight." He promised her as her eyes turned glassy before they shared a light kiss.

'He's still the same Jin that I fell for...' She thought as their memories flooded back, leading her to unconsciously grab Jae's hand and caressed his calloused palm with her thumb. He took the chance to pull her hand up to his lips and gently pecked her hand as he spoke. "Jagiya, I promise that I'll never make you have to go through that ever again. Can you give me just one chance to earn your trust again....?" Jae begged as he stroked the back of Eunji's hand, praying with his whole being that she'll give him a chance.

"How do I know you're not just lying to me?" Eunji murmured as she weakly attempted to pull her hand back. "We don't have to immediately start dating, I just want to be in your life again." Her heart swelled with emotion as she nodded. "Guess this will be our first day as friends again?" She said with a hint of laughter as he smiled back at her.

"I guess so." His eyes twinkling with mischief, it didn't feel familiar but nonetheless it still charmed her. "So, how was New York?" She awkwardly asked, trying to change the subject. "Um, it was fun, although cold. I wish you were there with me to enjoy it, though." He murmured, the subject of Jin cheating was still a sensitive topic for both. Eunji had gotten her heart-broken and Jin lost his life because of how guilty he felt about hurting her that he went and drowned himself in liquor.

"It would've been fun." She agreed as Jae cracked a grin, things were lighting up. "Do you remember when you first came over?" He started as her eyes stared back at his eyes in curiosity. "Oh! Yeah, you were trying to make me a cake but you shook the bag of flour so hard as you leaned into the bowl that the flour coated your face. Hahaha...You didn't have time to wash it off since you had to open the door for me." She recalled the story with a hearty laughter as Jae smiled along.

It was exactly what Jin would do. "Ah, I was such an idiot." He playfully reprimanded himself whilst maintaining eye contact with Eunji. "I wouldn't say idiot but not the sharpest either." She remarked with a sweet giggle that was music to his ears. "Hmph, I don't want to talk to you anymore." He playfully pouted as Eunji laughed fervently, she had never been able to take Jin seriously when he pouted.

"Awe. Hahaha, I'm sorry~. Okay?" She gently tugged at his hand as she lightly teased him, her whine broke his resolve as he nodded. "What should we order?"

His question took Eunji off-guard for Jin had always known what she felt like eating at the moment, even though he was merely guessing. "Um, let's get soufflé?" She suggested as Jae's eyes lit up with glee. "Hm, you're so excited. You used to hate eating soufflé." Eunji mused as Jae realized his mistake and quickly attempted to cover up the discrepancy. "Oh yeah, I used to hate it but Jae ate it non-stop and soon, I became addicted to." He lied as he gently scratched at the nape of his neck sheepishly.

Eunji couldn't say she was convinced but what was the point of pursuing such a trivial thing? It was simply a change in eating habits. The dessert finally came as the two smiled at each other before diving into the delicious, creamy, and light dessert.

"You got some on your lips." Eunji pointed out with a soft chuckle as she wiped his mouth, smiling at his clumsiness. How Jae wished time would stop at that moment, he held her hand tenderly and smiled back just as brightly as she did to him.
