[A/N]: in this one-shot, he's your husband.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Five months earlier~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Achilles..." You whispered softly as you pressed the wet cloth on the man's forehead. Achilles had been a mentor to both you and Connor, he meant the world to you even though you never admitted it. You managed to injure yourself during a mission with Connor and he refused to let you accompany him on anymore. And so, you were now left caring for Achilles, it did bother you that you left Connor to do everything by himself but you didn't mind being at Achilles beck and call.
Achilles groaned softly before he motioned for the door, "I'd like to get out of this damned bed, [Your Name]," You nodded your head before you helped him out of his bed and eventually down the stairs. You helped him sit down in his rocking chair, overall today, he had a lot more energy than he has had over the past week. The two of you sat down for a while, just talking until he fell asleep in his chair. You were going to help him back into his bed, but he seemed so peaceful. You quietly exited the room before you left the house to tend to some things. After a few hours you returned, Achilles was in his same spot as before so you went to wake him. You shook him a few times before you grew worried, "Achilles!" You hissed before you pressed your fingers to his neck, checking for a pulse. Your heart dropped to your stomach once you realized he was gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Present Day~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even after Connor had killed all of his major targets, he was still in and out of the house. After Achilles died, you became quieter and so did he, the only time you talked was if you or he need something from one another. You were outside, finally back in your assassin robes as you were tending to your horse. You ran your fingers through her thick jet black mane before you began to feed her. You sat there in silence before she nudged you, pulling you back to reality. You blinked a few times before you noticed Connor returning home. You gave [Your Horse's Name] another apple before you walked over to Connor, he was getting off of his horse. He stretched slightly before he removed his hood. You smiled once you noticed his hair returning to its original length.
You gnawed on your bottom lip, unsure how to start a conversation with him. You shook your head, your hair falling on your face in the process before you just sighed, turned around and went back to tend to [Your Horse's Name]. A puff of air escaped your lips as you folded your arms over your chest. You ran your hands through your horse's mane before you heard someone clear their throat behind you. You rose an eyebrow before you turned around and noticed Connor standing there. A soft yet sad smile played on his lips before he spoke, "Would you like to talk a walk with me, [Your Name]?" He asked before you looked him up and down before you nodded your head slowly, it was the first time the two of you have had a decent 'conversation' since he declared war on the Templars. Hell, even before that, the two of you were arguing with one another, especially when it came to him working with his 'father'. He extended his hand out to you as you eyed it cautiously, knowing that he wasn't really a fan of public displays of affection. You let air escape your nose before you grabbed his hand and the two of you began to walk with one another, hand in hand. As the two of you walked with one another, the silence between the two of you was unbearable. You didn't want to seem like a bitch, but... when someone (and that someone being your husband) doesn't speak to you for over five months, you were a bit beyond pissed off and hurt.
You snatched your hand away from his, the emotions now hitting you like a truck, "How dare you think that everything is all fucking peaches and creme after you've bearly spoken to me?!" You hissed at him before you went to storm off back to the house. He quickly grabbed your forearm before he pulled you close to him, "Let go of me, Connor!" You barked as you pressed your hands against his chest, trying to push yourself away from him. You soon found your strength failing you as your protest faltered and soon was replaced by you standing still. Your eyes staring at your feet, tears stung at your eyes, threating to fall as you felt him place his fingers under your chin, making your eyes meet. [Your Eye Color] held nothing but loneliness, sadness, and frustration. You licked your chapped lips before you looked away from him, "Just... Please, Connor, let go of me." Your voice barely a whisper before he did as you asked, once you were out of his grasp you quickly turned on your heels and you sped walked to somewhere deeper in the woods.
Once you felt you had put enough distance between the two of you, you collapsed onto your knees before your pressed your hands onto your face. A loud sob ripped through your chest, upset with yourself for crying in the first place and letting it get to you so much. You sighed before you wiped your tears off of your cheeks before you huffed and spoke, "Ratonhnhaké:ton, come out. I heard you walking not too long ago," you looked in the direction you heard the sound to see your husband. A sigh escaped his lips as he crouched down so the two of you were at the same level. Your eyes never leaving his figure as he did so. "Do you know why I was so harsh and angry with you after you got hurt, [Your Name]?" You scoffed and rolled your eyes at him after he asked his question.
"Because you're an asshole." You mumbled under your breath, Connor wasn't a stranger to your vulgarity when you were upset. He chuckled and shook his head 'no', "No, but good guess. I don't want you getting killed over something that is my fight. You're my wife. I'm supposed to protect you and keep you safe, [Your Name]."
"By completely shutting yourself down from talking to me, forbidding me from ever helping you! Do you hear yourself, Connor!" You hissed at him, your anger getting the best of you before you sighed and shook your head.
"I'm still used to working by myself, [Your Name]."
"It's no excuse for you to completely cut me off, asshole." You hissed as you folded your arms over your chest. He sighed before he wrapped his arms around your body. You being stubborn, you didn't wrap your arms around him but it didn't keep you from laying your head on his chest, getting comfortable in the process. You sighed and mumbled, "Don't think you're getting out of trouble with me so easily, Kenway." He chuckled before he scooped you up into his arms before he brought the two of you back to the house.
