Put Your Head on My Shoulder - Paul Anaka
The next day, Ponyboy, Johnny and Dallas entered the Dingo Diner as it was closing, Lily sweeping the floor whilst Susie wiped down the last of the tables.
"Hi guys, what you doin' here?" Lily smiled, walking over and standing before the three of them.
"We heard that there were a few Socs on the streets tonight, thought we'd come and walk you back." Johnny replied, gradually becoming more confident with her.
"Aw, thank you. How come you didn't drive?" She said gratefully, before realising that they hadn't mentioned a car.
"The stars look real pretty tonight, it'd be nice to look at them on the way home." Ponyboy piped up, Dallas rolling his eyes at how cheesy and poetic the boy sounded.
"I love looking at the stars! I'll just get my bag and say bye to Susie." She was off to the back again, the three chatting to each other about an unrelated topic.
She came back with a small bag over her shoulder and a gave quick goodbye wave to Susie.
"Where's your jacket?" Dallas asked when the four were walking down the cement steps outside.
"It was hot this morning when I was walking here, so I didn't bring one." Lily replied sheepishly, the boys smiling and shaking their head at the fact she forgot the temperature usually dropped as the sun went down.
"Here." Dallas began to pull his leather jacket off his top half, Lily taking hold of his forearm so he wouldn't be able to give it to her.
"Dallas, no! You only have a t-shirt on, you'll freeze to death." She denied the kind offer, Dallas still forcing the jacket over her shoulders.
"I have a lotta muscle to warm me up. You're only little." Dallas smirked down at her, Lily smiling back up at him. They walked in the middle of the empty road, the moon rising in the distance above the houses.
"Thank you." She said for giving her his jacket. She hated to admit it, but his arms looked so muscular and bulky in just a faded grey t shirt, and she had noticed before, but it seemed even more obvious that night.
"Like what you see, baby?" He quietly poked fun at her, Ponyboy and Johnny too deep in their own conversation to be paying attention to Lily and Dallas.
"Shut up." She laughed and waved off the comment in a nonchalant manner. Dallas chuckled, before noticing a few funny looking boys walking by, who clearly were neither Socs or greasers. Dallas noticed the boys were staring at Lily in awe, and making little comments to one another, which they clearly thought was hilarious and "smooth".
"Hello fellas, she's single. Loves a good time. $10 for oral, $20 for no clothes action."
The boys averted their wide eyes with a deep red colour rising in their cheeks and ears, Lily thumping Dallas in the shoulder.
"Dallas, you idiot! Shut up!"
She folded her arms and refused to look back at the strangers, huffing almost unnoticeably.
"Hey, you're crazy about me, y'know that?"
