"Britt looks hot!" Luke whistled from his front seat. I rolled my eyes and climbed into the back with Kenz. It got colder at night, so I had on jeans with riding boots and a long sleeve white shirt.
"Shutup and drive." I joked and he backed out of my driveway.
Luckily, none of us were wearing school colors. I was fine with checking them out, I am sure they came to our games, but I didn't want any problems. That is a conversation I would not want to have with Coach.
Fort Worth was about twenty to thirty minutes from my house, and Kenz and I spent most of the ride catching up on the latest episode of Scandal.
But once the game started we went right into football talk. Analyzing their plays and individual strengths and weaknesses. Kenz kept up for most of it, but eventually got bored.
"Their QB looks good." Matt commented. Luke rolled his eyes.
"Well how the hell else do you expect that they would get to the state championships?" He asked.
They began to argue about the strength of the whole team. Typical Matt and Luke stuff, and my stomach was growling.
"I'm going to get food. Wanna come Kenz?" I asked, watching a basket of fries walk by on the hand of a girl in Fort Worth colors.
"Yes!" She jumped up and followed me down the stands.
We found the food booth and waited in line for our fries.
"Did you hear about Friarburg?" A man was saying behind us. Friarburg was our school.
"The chick?" His friend next to him said and my blood froze.
Kenz's eyes widened and she slid them over to see my reaction.
"Yeah the quarterback is a girl. Her brother is Cole Manning." He said. His friend let out a low whistle.
"Well that doesn't mean she's any good. Wonder how they got to states. This will be an easy win." The man said.
"I hope she isn't planning on playing college. She won't last a day." His friend said.
"I'm not hungry." I muttered, turning around to walk back to our seats.
Kenz grabbed our fries and chased after me.
"What happened?" Matt jumped up, seeing my face and focusing on Kenz.
"Nothing." I muttered and sat down.
"Well that face doesn't look like nothing." Luke said and I shrugged.
"Some assholes had their own ideas about Britt." Kenz said, catching up to me.
"What?" They said at once. She filled them in on the conversation in the food line and Matt put both his hands on my shoulders.
"Shrug is off, kiddo. They aren't worth it." He said.
"We will kick their ass and then they can personally apologize to our little girl." Luke teased and I couldn't help but smile.
"Let's go." I announced, standing up. I had had enough of the Fort Worth game and I was ready to go home.
"Can I eat your fries?" Matt asked.
"No I'm hungry again." I said, and everyone laughed.
We got into the car and started the twenty minute ride back to Friarburg.
"Sleepover?" Kenz asked.
"Of course!" Matt anounced.
"I'm not asking you, dummy." She said.
