I sat on the table in the trainer's office while he put some ice in a bag and saran wrapped it to my arm.

"What happened?" Luke stopped by the door with a look of panic on his face.

"Relax, I'm fine." I laughed and hopped off the table. He went to carry my bag and I shot him a look.

"I'm fine." I picked up the duffel bag, which was practically my size, and followed him out to the parking lot.

I might love my boys, but I definitely didn't love the overprotectiveness of them. I understood why they felt the need to protect me, this was a contact sport and the threat was real.

I tossed my bag into the back of my SUV and walked over to the driver's seat. I showered in the locker room and changed into a different set of cropped spandex and a black spandex zip up jacket.

While I waited for Kenz, I put on my Danielle Bradbery playlist and scrolled through my social networks.

We were playing Fort Worth in the state championship. In our state, the state championship is decided halfway through the season based on records. However, it isn't set in stone and the match up could change on a dime.

The last time we played Fort Worth was my brother's senior season. That fact alone has sparked many conversations around town.

Thinking about it made my body tense up and I leaned my head back and closed my eyes.

"Sleeping on the job?" Matt asked and I shot forward.

"Where the hell did you come from?" I asked, he shrugged and leaned on my window.

"Is Kenz coming?" I asked. She was a talker, and was probably chatting with her friends.

"Yeah she's walking over now, what happened?" He said, looking back toward the school and then at my arm.

"It's just sore. Are you looking for a ride home?" I asked, wondering why he was still at my car.

"Not home. Just to Kenz's." He grinned at me and I rolled my eyes.

"You roll your eyes alot. They're gonna get stuck like that." He warned.

"Let's go!" Kenz hopped into the front seat and Matt hopped in behind me.

"How was practice?" She asked. Matt and I both shrugged.

"We watched tape and went over new plays." I said, pulling out of the parking lot.

We talked about states the rest of the way home and I pulled into my driveway.

"I can bring your stuff tomorrow." I told him when he went for his duffel bag.

"That's why you're my favorite friend." He teased, squeezing my cheeks.

I said bye to them and walked in greeted by Brady, my Golden Retriever.

"Hi baby!" I sat on the ground and he climbed all over me, licking my face.

"Britty?" My mom called. My family has taken it upon themselves to call me Britty.

If Cole is in an unusually good mood, its Britty-Baby.

It gets old quickly.

"Hi Mom!" I yelled, still sitting on the floor with Brady.

"Oh for Pete's sake, Brady get off her." She walked over, wiping her hands on a hand towel from the kitchen.

"How was practice?" She asked. Brady ran off, probably to find a toy to show me.

"Great. Tiring." I said, still sitting on the floor.

"Liv and the family are coming for dinner." She said.
