When the bell rang later that Tuesday, I slowly made my way through the busy halls to my locker. I spun the lock a few times before opening it to take the books I would need for the massive amounts of homework that had been assigned this week.

I was not looking forward to the massive amounts of homework.

"What are you doing after practice?" Matt asked from his locker, which was a couple down from mine.

"Homework. I think the teachers gave us this much work on purpose. They must know someone on the Fort Worth team..." I grumbled, zipping my backpack.

"No, our dear Britt, you are the one with the Fort Worth connections." Luke announced, walking up to my locker.

"Yeah, yeah." I laughed, slamming the locker and walking toward the gym and athletic office.

"Why don't we have a good old fashion homework session?" Matt offered.

"I'll come!" Luke said.

"You are doing your homework?" I asked, while Matt looked at him as if he was turning purple in front of his eyes.

"Yes. Its the end of the term." He sighed, looking defeated. Luke had a different way of getting work done - he waited till the end.

"Deal. My place, bring food." I said, heading down the stairs to the girls locker room.

After practice I drove home and dropped my backpack on the table, not even bothering to change.

"Mom! Luke and Matt are coming to do homework!" I yelled, unpacking the books and notebooks I would need.

Before she answered, my phone began to ring and Nick's face lit up the screen.

"Hey!" I said, smiling even though he couldn't see me.

"Hey!" He repeated.

"What's up?" I asked, walking into the kitchen and grabbing a water bottle and two Gatorades.

"Well..." He began, dragging out the word.

"Yes?" I said, mimicking him.

"My parents want to meet you." He said.

"Oh!" I said, not expecting him to say that.

"Can you come to dinner Saturday?" He asked, sounding nervous.

"Sure!" I said and could feel him relax.

"Good! I promise they aren't crazy fans who will hate you." He said and I chuckled.

"Good to know." I said, shaking my head.

I heard a car door slam and looked out the window to see Matt and Luke walking up the driveway.

"I have to go do homework with Matt and Luke, but I will call you after." I promised before saying goodbye and opening the garage door.

"I don't know how I am going to get this all done!" Luke cried, walking into my house.

"This happens every single semester." Matt reminded him.

"Yeah. You'd think you'd learn." I said.

"Learn what?" Luke asked.

Matt laughed and we walked into the dining room.

"Where's the welcoming committee?" Matt asked, looking around for Brady.

"It's laundry day so he is most likely following my mom around looking for socks." I said, taking a seat at the table.

"Okay we work until seven and then order pizza and then work from eight to ten." I announced confidently, as if we were heading into a big game.

Matt and I immediately began working on homework sheets... and the tapping began.
