"Yeah, I have a bunch of little cousins. Why?" He asked, looking suspicious.
"My sister is desperate and needs someone to watch Beau and she literally just begged me to come over and she has Ben and Jerry's and movies waiting." I said, rushing the words out of my mouth.
"We just ordered." He laughed.
"She doesn't need us till 7:30." I expained.
"Okay, why not." He said with a smile and my heart melted a little, tiny bit.
Our food was delivered and we continued on with our date, even though the ending would be changing. After Nick paid for our dinner, we climbed back into his truck and drove to Liv's house.
"Hey." I said, shutting his door and walking up the driveway.
"I love you." She gave me a hug.
"I love you too and I don't even know you." She said to Nick, grabbing him for a hug.
"Luckily. The little terror goes to bed... right now." She said, checking the time.
"We just need you two to hang out and check on him if he wakes up. We have tons of ice cream and unlimited Netflix, HBO, all that." She said, leading us through the garage and into her house.
"And we will pay you both." She said, shutting the door behind us.
Before I could say anything Nick spoke up.
"No disrespect, but I am not taking your money." He said with a laugh and my heart melted a whole lot.
"What a gentleman. Well I am going to pay you back someday." She laughed.
"He's down. Thanks guys." Dan said, walking downstairs.
"Don't you look spiffy. Enjoy yourselves!" I said, kissing Liv's cheek and waving at them as they walked out the door.
"So what now?" He asked, falling back on the couch.
"I guess we choose a movie." I said, sitting next to him and pulling my knees up to my chest.
I walked into the kitchen to get a class of water while nick stayed in the living room. I grabbed a glass from the cabinet and turned the faucet on. Once the cup was full I turned it off...
And the water didn't stop.
"Nick!" I whisper-yelled, trying not to wake Beau up.
He didn't hear me and continued to watch This Means War on her couch.
"NICK!" I whispered louder. He paused the TV and looked around, trying to figure out where the noise came from.
Oh for the love of -
"Nick!" I said at full volume.
"Oh!" He said with a laugh, walking into the kitchen room.
"I can't shut the water off." I said, feeling panicked.
At that moment, I heard a cry come through the baby monitor on the counter.
"That's Beau. I can call my parents. Can you check him?" I asked. I was a little worried about this plan of mine since Beau has absolutely no idea who the eighteen year old was that was about to walk into his room.
I pulled out my phone and dialed my house number.
"Hey Liv!" My mom said.
"Not Liv." I responded.
"Britt?" She asked, sounding confused.
"Its such a long story. Liv crashed my date cause she needed sitters for tonight. Is dad there?" I asked.I heard her call my father over and waited patiently.
While I was waiting for him, I heard Nick talking to Beau through the baby monitor.
"Oh you're okay." He said, and I could hear a bounce in his voice that told me he was holding Beau.
"Yeah. Just woke yourself up." He said.
"Britt? Britt?" My dad said.
"Sorry. Uhh Liv's sink won't turn off." I said.
"What do you mean?"
"It turned on but won't turn off." I said.
"I won't be able to help if I'm not there honey. Why don't you call Liv and let her know and then call me back." He offered.
I hung up and could hear that Beau's crying was slowing down.
"Hey Liv your water won't shut off." I said when she answered.
"Where?" She asked, not sounding concerned at all."The sink." I said.
"You need to lift the handle up. Sorry. I should have told you." She said with a laugh.
Sure enough, I lifted the handle and turned it to off and the water stopped.
"You need to get that fixed." I laughed before hanging up and calling my dad.
I could hear Beau's crying had stopped, and I was about to go upstairs and check on him when I heard singing through the monitor.
I paused, and walked back to the baby monitor to listen.
"Sweet thing, climb on out of your window while the world's sleeping. You now I need you and there's no way I'll be leaving till we're kissing on the porch swing." Nick was singing Sweet Thing by Keith Urban to Beau, who I am guessing was asleep.
I slowly tiptoed up the stairs and waited outside Beau's room.
Nick backed out of the door and slowly closed it, he turned around and jumped out of his skin when he saw me.
"I should be the one surprised. I had no idea Keith Urban was here." I said, walking over and placing my hands on his hips.
"Oh hush." He laughed, leaning forward to kiss me.
We made our way back to the couch and got comfy before pressing play on the movie again.
"We make a pretty good team." Nick said, playing with my hair.
"To bad we are playing against eachother." I said lightheartedly.
"Doesn't mean a thing." He said with a smile, kissing me loudly on the cheek and making me laugh.
