Chapter 3

I had science now, with one of my favourite teachers; Mrs Leo. But I couldn't concentrate as much as I should of, I was going through sheets of paper writing his name and mine, in different fonts. Not really paying attention, she let's us go for lunch. 

"You can go Carly?" She laughs, I wonder if she thinks I'm actually doing the work. 

"Sorry, I was daydreaming" I felt my cheeks burn.

"I didn't realise science was in your interest" She smirks while collecting in the work sheets. 

I just nod, and make my way to the lockers. This is where we normally meet at lunch if we're not together. When I reached the location, no one was there. 

"Hey stranger!" I hear a voice behind me, I twirl around spotting Luke, he's a friend, well was? He's always been here for me and the girls, well I mean was here.

Luke is my age, and in most of my lessons, but we hardly talk anymore. We grew up together and since we started at high school, he vanished because he's with the 'Popular's' now who I really dislike, I would go all the way to hate but he's joined that group. Luke is extremely lanky, but I guess it suits his dorky personality. He's hot I guess, his blonde hair is always styled perfectly and he has icy blue eyes than anyone would want to stare in all day. 

"You okay?" He starts to walk over to me, I notice he checks around him before doing so. 

"I suppose? You?" I shrug, I miss him sometimes but we all do. 

"Suppose..." He mutters, not really paying much attention. I remember him being more carefree and happier.

"What's up?" I ask reaching to put my hand onto his shoulder, but quickly removing it.

Shit. 

"Nothing!?" He raises his voice then walking back down the corridor to find his friends. 

What the hell was that about? Maybe it was the touch, but I wasn't that bad was it? I was only being friendly and he is, I mean was, my best friend right? 

I eventually stroll to find them, if I wait here any longer I will starve to death, or Luke will come back and probably attack me with his hormones. I finally find them in the usual eating spot in the corner, both of them on their phones. 

"Where you been?" Gabs asks with a mouth full of food, disgusting.

"I spoke to Luke..." I whisper, opening my bag to find my lunch. 

"About?" Poppy on the edge of her seat, she really likes him.. Ever since primary school when we would hang out, she's always had a tiny crush on him. Even now considering of how much a dick he is. 

"He ended up shouting at me and walking away, isn't that perfect? Great lover boy there babe!" I hint the sarcasm with a wink, we all  turned our attention towards Luke who is loudest boy in the room. He was smiling now, a large dimple forming on his cheek.

Why doesn't he ever notice us?

"There we have, Luke, our old best friend, being the dick he is now, surrounded by the other identical animals in this shit hole!" Gabs laughs, I join in, but Poppy just stares down to her lunch not saying a word. "Jokes..." Gabs adds, still smirking as am I.

We all just sit in silence after that little episode, eating our lunch not having much to discuss after that, this was until Mr Styles walked into the canteen. He's looking absolutely perfect.

"Look who's in love!" Poppy laughs, pointing out the red cheeks that have formed on my face. 

"Mr Styles, very handsome!" Gabs joins in, as we all start to giggle.
