MIRIAM’S P.O.V
The funeral was too quite. I couldn’t cry at all tonight, even if I tried. I had Connor’s hand on my waist all the time, he supported my weak body. Mom Joan and Dad Mark were here. The boys and their crew were here. But I had no family left. Dad had never been beside me as long as I could remember. And Mom has gone. Even though Connor kept telling me that I would be okay, there was still something wrong with that.
“Are you still crying, babe? You need my hug?” There’s a voice came up from behind us and it shocked both me and Connor.
“What are you doing here?” Connor stepped forward to cover me and held my hand tightly.
“Hey what’s your problem? I’m talking to my girl!”
“She’s MINE! Back off!”
“Okay celebrity, chill. I just want to talk straightly to this girl…” Rob walked closer to me like he’s only an inch away from Connor, and Connor practically separated us both. “Sorry I accidentally killed your Mom… I told you to be with me, but you didn’t listen…”
Rob looked at me then threw his eyes to Connor. “Oops.” He raised his hands arrested and went away.
“YOU THINK YOU CAN GO?!” Connor took his hand off of me and ran after Rob, kicked him down.
“CONNOR!!!”
“Con we got this!” Riley and Thomas came back with two cops and I took a released breathe, cried so hard against Toby’s chest as he was covering my trembling body.
I was pretty sure I passed out on my Mom’s cemetery, but finally made it to open my eyes. Everyone’s gathered; faced me the concerned expression.
“Babe…” Connor cried and laid down his head on my stomach.
“Hi…” I greeted them all and they laughed in awkward tone.
“You Mimi, I’m going to be your Mom. And this is your Dad. These are your brothers even though you…yeah, have to deal with the craziness. Hope you don’t mind.” Mom Joan came up and kissed my forehead as I smiled to her.
“Thanks so much, Mom…”
“I’m your family now. No need further explanation, right?” Dad joined Mom, and the rest were crying the happy tears.
I still had Connor’s head on my stomach and I ran my fingers through his hair. I knew it’s hard for him too; it’s hard for everybody. I thanked him so much for being here and calmed me down. But I knew Connor that well; he’s broken too.
“Baby, you okay?” I decided to start the conversation once Mom and Dad asked everybody to left us alone.
“Are you?”
“I feel way better, thank you so much for everything.”
“Will you marry me?” He spoke in a flat tone and I widened my eyes not knowing if he’s daydreaming or what.
“Babe, did you hit your head that hard?”
I smiled looking at the ceiling because we didn’t see each other while talking at this time you know; Connor buried his face inside the blanket on my stomach, and I was like talking to the ceiling, I wasn’t kidding you.
“Answer my question, my love Miriam. Will you marry me?”
“Are you joking?”
He lifted his head and faced his face on me.
“Do I look like kidding you here?” He kissed my lips.
“No…”
“And the answer is…”
“Yes…”
“CONGRATULATIONS, YOU EARN TODAY'S JACKPOT!” Connor suddenly cheered.
“MY GOODNESS CONNOR! Okay never mind I won’t marry you…”
“Shut up.” He came closer to me and kissed me once again, and we lasted it longer than before. There were butterflies or even elephants inside my stomach I had no idea.
“I’ll marry you, and that's a promise.”
We took the right position and this time I was resting my head on his chest; listened to his heartbeat. The heartbeat of the guy I loved the most.
