EIGHT

Merilize climb to the top in the barn while James stood at the doors looking at her.

"So, I decided that, I want to stay." James came up. "But only if it's alright with you."

"Of course it is." Merilize replied a little shooked looking at him. "You're always welcome here."

"Thanks, I'm gonna sell my house and my car and then get settled like we use to be." James smiled scanning her from head to toe that looked around her area to avoid eye contact.

"Sounds perfect by me." Merilize replied and took a step forward.

At that very same moment everything changed. EVERYTHING.

There was the sound of a big crack and then, Crash!

"Merilize!" James ran to Merilize that laid there on the hard ground on her back on the wood that broke in with her. She look up moaning in pain. "Don't move."

Tears apear in the corner of her eyes making eye contact with James that looked horrified down at her.

She look beside her at a sharp piece of wood pointing up in the air. She gave a gasp wanting to stand up but James grabbed and pulled her over his lab.

"You are okay." He comfort her touching her face.

"Help me up please." She begged him.

He stood up and try to help her up. She find her feet to the ground almost falling down in the progress.

"Merilize." James stopped her and decided to pick her up bridal. "Let's get you in."

James sat next to Merilize that laid on her bed with her head on her pillow holding her up a bit.

"How do you feel?" He asked her. She look at him touching his arm.

"Thank you." She thanked in almost a whisper. "My back hurts so much."

"I'll call your doctor."

James stood up and walked out of the room.

After a while of waiting James came in and took a seat next to her on the bed.

"The doctor can't come in tonight. He'll come by tomorrow." James said and rest his hand softly on her stomach. "He gave me advice and it's to not let you get on your feet."

"Great, this is probably payback for being such a bi..."

"This ain't payback Merilize. This is an accident." He interrupted her looking serious as the dead.

She give a little smile throwing it away traveling her eyes away from him.

"Sorry I had to drag you into this." Merilize apologised placing her hand on his that was on her stomach.

"Thank God you did." He reacted getting her attention. "Merilize I am here now okay."

"Thank you for that." Merilize replied touching his cheek softly. "You have no idea how grateful I am."

"And you have no idea how much I lo..." he started about to head down to kiss her but stopped when the phone rang. He give a heavy sighed looking down then back at her.

"Could be one of the children." Merilize whispered with a shiver in her voice. "Answer it please."
