“Dante…” I face him with sorrow and remorse tugging at my insides. He stares at me, his eyes reflecting hate and disgust, and it fills my throbbing heart with so much sorrow. His accusatory look was more than I could handle. He found out what I’ve done and now he despises me. “Dante…I’m sorry.”
I take a step towards him, I hated the distance between us. Why did I ever leave him? I reach for him, but he turns and leave before I could even touch him. I run and run, and even though he’s only walking away from me I couldn’t catch up to him no matter how hard I tried. It’s as if I was running in slow motion, watching helplessly as he disappears, slipping away, like water sipping through my fingers. “Dante…Dante wait…Dante…” I kept on calling his name, but not once did he turn my way. The last look he had given me was one of pure revulsion…
“DANTEEEEE!” I wake up screaming his name, a bloodcurdling scream. I shot up from my bed looking frantically everywhere for Dante. “Dante!” I leave my room shouting his name. “Dante!” Searching for him in every corner and crevice of my apartment, driven by madness and desperation. My senses all shut down to the world around me. My only focus and care in life is to get to him before is too late.
“Whoa! Hold your horses! Where are you going so late at night and dressed like that? Besides all that, what’s with the freak out moment Brea? And don’t even get me started on the whole crime scene I found in the kitchen two days ago, and not only do you wake up screaming like a crazy woman, but it happens after two days of being in a coma-like sleep. I mean—”
“Christina”
“what’s with all the running away in the first place if you’re going to run around like a mad woman looking for the one you’re running from, and—”
“Christina!”
“What?”
“Shut up and let me get through.”
She was in my way, and I needed to leave and find Dante immediately. Did she not get that? She was now gaping at me, but still in my way. “Christina let me make this clear and easy for you to understand. I need to go to Dante right now, so please let me through and no one gets hurt. Easy enough?”
“B why are you acting like such a bit—”
“I’m going to stop you right there Christina. I really don’t want to be angry with you right now. All you need to do is step away.” She rolls her eyes and ignores my warning.
“And all you need to do is relax and think things through like you always do. Seriously B, what has gotten into you? You used to be my voice of reason, always cool and levelheaded, and now I don’t even know how to begin helping you. Am I even qualified to scold you? How should I act as your friend when our roles are reversed? I’m here for you too you know, qualified or not. You can still count on me if you need me B. At the very least I could listen to you as you pour out your troubles. See? I have two shoulders too and you can cry on either of them.”
I sigh feeling childish and irrational to say the least. What the hell am I doing? “You’re right Christy.”
“I am?” I can’t help but laugh at her expression of pure astonishment.
“Yes you are! No need to be so surprised.” I smile warmly at her. “Thank you Christy.”
“Ok now off you go! Get ready so you can go and get your man, or wolf.” She said as she turned me around and shoved me towards my room. “Go beautified yourself Virginia.” She smack my bums before she gave me one last push into my room.
