When I turned around there was Dre standing there with a stupid grin on his face “You hitting that ain’t you...?” even though I was in shock I shook my head and said “Boy move before I hit you....” Dre followed me into the kitchen and said “Momma you can tell me, you hitting that ain’t you...?” I looked at him and asked “Why would you ask me something like that...?” he smiled and looked around for his sister before he continued. “When I woke up this morning you had perfume in your clothes. Momma you don’t wear perfume you wear men’s cologne always have. When Shania came thru the door this morning I smelled the same scent. You were with Shania last nite when you were supposedly making phone calls. So tell me momma, are you hitting that...?” I shook my head and called out for Dee to come on so we could make it to our appointment.
I made it down to the campus fifteen minutes early and I was glad to get out of that damn rental after listening to Lil Wayne for almost thirty damn minutes. It was a surprise to me that I didn’t forget I was supposed to be a lady in front of these damn white folks. The secretary led me into the Deans office and we shook hands and he offered us a seat. The Dean started off with explaining to me the reason why he kicked Dee off campus. Apparently Dee was throwing wild parties and had countless men running in and out of the girl’s dorm all times of nite. He then went on to tell me with Dee being pregnant she was not allowed to live on campus. I didn’t understand his logic not one bit. Shit, pregnancy was not contagious last time I checked. I turned to Dee and asked her to explain herself. She then went on to tell me that the parties were not all on her because Jaylein was the one inviting people over for fight night and card games. She said she went with everything he put down because she was terrified of what he would do to her.
I them turned to the Dean and asked about Dre. The Dean went through his files and said “Oh, De’ Andre is an excellent student it’s just his temper we have a problem with. With De’ Andre its either fighting or arguing with his professors. I understand Ms. Long that you’re a lawyer and all and I understand your plate is full on a daily basis but your children are out of control.” I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths before I cussed this man from the birth mark on face down to his argyle socks. “Look let me tell you something my kids are not out of control. Yea, I admit that my son has a temper but like you just said he’s pulling straight A’s with a B here and there. I understand that my daughter is pregnant and a little naive but my children are not out of control...”
I turned to Dre and I said right there in from of the Dean “If I gotta bring my ass back out here because you acting a monkey. Nigga it’s gone be me and you out in that campus parking lot. Do you understand me...?” Dre swallowed the lump in his throat and said “Yes Ma’am,” I then turned to my naive daughter and said “And you you’re coming home with me until you have this baby. We gone sign you up for some college courses because you will finish school. Once this baby is born you will bring your black ass right back here and show this white man that you are better than some drug dealer’s girlfriend doing his bidding. You will get an education if I gotta drag yo’ black ass out in that parking right along with your brother and whoop your ass as well. Do you understand me...?” Dee bowed her head and rubbed her stomach and said “Yes Ma’am” I looked upside her head and said “Excuse Me...?” she looked up at me and said “Yes Ma’am” I then turned to the Dean and said “Now you can either let my son come back on campus and further his education or I can sue your white as for discrimination. Now what will it be...?” he looked at me and then my children and said “De’ Andre you can start school on Monday of next week but I don’t want no mess out you...” he then turned to Dee and said “Young lady I will see you this fall when school starts....” he then pushed the intercom and called for his secretary to escorts us out. I stood up and straighten my tie. I pointed at the kids and then towards the door. I turned and shook the Deans hand and when the secretary open the door to show us the way out I told her I knew my way and we bounced.
