I pulled my chair close to Shania's bedside and held on to her hand and fell asleep. When I awoke the sun was coming in thru the window and the nurse was handing me a hot cup of coffee. I took the coffee and sat it down "Thanks for the coffee but I'd rather have juice," the nurse begin to apologize and I stopped her "No need to apologize but if you don't mind I would love some orange juice..." The nurse smiled and said "Orange juice it is..." she vanished again. I heard light laughter and I looked up and Shania was smiling thru cracked lips. "You shouldn't be laughing..." she barely waved her hand at me and tried to speak. I grabbed the ice on the bedside table and began to feed them to her slowly.
The door swung open and the nurse walked in with a small container of orange juice "What the hell is this ...?" the nurse looked embarrassed and hurt all at the same time "That's the only juice we have Ms. Long..." I looked at her and shook my head. I whispered to Shania that I would be back that I had to go and find me a normal bottle of orange juice. Shania smiled and coughed in pain. I snatched up my purse and headed to the cafeteria. I called Dee and asked her to bring me a fresh pair of undies and some clothes. I then called Artijane' on her cell and told her if anything important came up to call me. I then called Jackie and asked him if he could braid my hair some time the next day because I had yet another emergency. He had the nerve to cop an attitude but once I promised him Beyonce' tickets he shut that shit down real quick.
I found the cafeteria and bought me a breakfast burrito and made sure I had my fill of orange juice. I went out and sat in the patio area and did some reading and ate my breakfast. I was enjoying the peace and quiet when none other than Tiffany came out of nowhere. This bitch just don't fucking give up. I lit me a cigarette and took a nice long drag "What the fuck do you want now...?" Tiffany smiled at me and asked "Why you always giving me a hard time...? Huh, Sweet Thang...?" I blew smoke in her face and replied "Giving you hard time...? Bitch please," Tiffany leaned forward and placed her hands on my thighs and said "I want you Desire. I need you to be on my team. That Shania bitch is a washed up has been. I need something challenging..." I looked at Tiffany and said "You just don't get it do you...? Let me explain: for one, you're not my type. For two, you're very disrespectful and I could give a damn about any team. For three, if you ever touch me or Shania again I guarantee you I will pump you full of lead..." I stood up and threw my trash away when I heard Tiffany say "One day desire, you gone change your mind...." I snatched I open the doors wondering why that slimy piece of trash was not behind bars.
I pushed the up button on the elevator and right when the doors sprung open my cell phone rang "What the fuck now," I slid my thumb across the screen "Desire," I heard heavy breathing "Hey momma, I'm out front..." "What the hell you breathing so hard for are you running..." she laughed and said "Naw, it's hard getting in and outta this truck with all this belly..." we both laughed and I told her I was on my way. I walked around to the front of the hospital and there stood Dee with not only a big belly but a monster cheese burger. I laughed and said "That's why you couldn't get out the truck..." she looked at me puzzled I pointed at the burger and she smiled and said "Oh this," I grabbed my bag from her shoulder and she asked about Shania.
I smiled and told her that Shania was doing fine and that most likely she would be coming back to stay with us until her ribs healed up. Dee chuckled and said "Yea okay," I looked at her and asked "What'so funny...?" Dee shook her and head kissed me on the cheek and turned to leave. I called out to her that I loved her and for her to be careful. She waved her hand at me and said "I love you too momma and I will be..." and with that she was gone
