Michael sat on his bed, his tv was playing but he wasn't watching whatever was on. He was thinking about Luke, and not for the first time that day. Recently, he'd been thinking about Luke a lot. Thinking about Luke's beautiful smile, his bright blue eyes and how nice it felt to hold his hand. It'd been a week since the therapy session, but to Michael it felt like ages. He missed Luke, which probably sounded crazy. How could he miss someone he barely knew? But things were different with Luke, Michael couldn't explain it. He barely understood it himself.
Michael wanted to see Luke again, he needed to see Luke again. He just didn't know how to make that happen. Michael had Luke's number, Luke had given it to him on their walk but Michael hadn't worked up the nerve to call him. He wouldn't know what to say.
The day passed by slowly, like most other days. Michael stayed inside watching movies, and sleeping like usual.

The next morning, Michael woke up sometime after noon. He walked down to his kitchen to get some breakfast, and saw a note from his mother. She wouldn't be home till later that night. Michael didn't mind though, his mother and him didn't get along too well. She was always bothering him to go out and make friends, she didn't understand that Michael preferred to be alone. Michael ended up not eating anything, instead he took a shower. After his shower he watched some movie that was playing on tv, but Michael wasn't interested in it. He sighed and tried to find something else to watch.
After three episodes of some reality show, Michael decided he should actually do something. He was kind of tired of sitting inside all day. He thought of what he could do, and there weren't many choices. He didn't have a lot friends, in fact he only had two. Ashton and Calum, they'd all been friends since middle school but during the summer they went to their cabins. Which meant Michael was all alone for three months.
There was only one person Michael could hang out with, and that was Luke. Michael really wanted to be around Luke again, there was nothing that he wanted more but Michael was scared to call him. What if Luke only gave him his number to be polite? Maybe Luke was hoping Michael wouldn't call. All these negative thoughts were running through Michael's mind, and all he wanted to do was sleep because sleeping meant he wouldn't feel things for a while. If he were sleeping, he wouldn't be missing Luke.

An hour later, Michael was still sitting on his couch debating if he should call Luke or not. Michael realized getting so worked up over something so small like this would seem stupid to most people but this wasn't small to him. Luke was a big deal, Luke was important to him. Michael took a deep breath before picking up his phone and calling Luke's number. It started ringing, and Michael felt his hands get a bit sweaty.
"Three rings, and I'll hang up" Michael told himself and counted as it rang twice. On the third ring he heard someone pick up the phone.
"hello?" A quiet voice said.
Michael felt himself smile, he really liked that voice.
"Hi, is this Luke?" Michael asked, and instantly regretted it. Obviously this was Luke, this was his cell number.
"yeah, is this Michael?" Luke asked, and Michael swore he could hear excitement in the boy's voice. Or maybe Michael was just imagining things, either way Michael was just happy that Luke remembered him.
"yeah" Michael said, thinking of what he should say next. He wanted to see Luke again, but he didn't know how to tell him that.
"I didn't think you were going to call" Luke admitted.
"why wouldn't I?" Michael asked.
"because I'm me" Luke said quietly.
Michael frowned, Luke was so insecure when he had no reason to be. Michael would never understand why Luke could hate anything about himself, it just didn't make sense to Michael.
"well I think you're wonderful, I thought that the day I saw you and I still think that now" Michael told him, honestly. He was sure Luke's face was red.
"I was wondering if you'd like to meet up sometime, we could get to know each other a bit better" Michael asked, hoping his voice didn't sound as shaky as he thought it did.
"I would love that" Luke said, his voice still quiet.
"what about today? Unless you're busy, then it could be another day or something" Michael suggested.
"I'm not busy," Luke said, and Michael smiled. "where do you wanna meet?" Luke asked.
Michael thought about it for a minute, he didn't want to say a restaurant because he didn't want Luke to feel uncomfortable but he wasn't sure where else they could go.
"would a coffee shop be okay?" Michael asked, hoping it would.
"that sounds more than okay" Luke said, and Michael felt something in his stomach. "there's a coffee shop a few blocks away from my house, we passed it while we were walking. Would you want to meet there in an hour?" Luke asked.
"yeah, that sounds great! see you then" Michael said before hanging up.
Once he was off the phone, he felt like jumping up and down. He was going out for coffee with Luke. The boy he couldn't stop thinking about for the past week. Michael felt on top of the world, all his nervousness was pushed aside and replaced with excitement. Michael felt like he'd just won the lottery or something, and he smiled knowing Luke was better than any amount of money he could ever win.
