While Michael was walking home, a smile never left his face. Luke had kissed his cheek, and called this a date. Michael felt like he was dreaming, things like this never happened to him. He didn't know what it was like to really be happy, but he thought this must be what it felt like.
It didn't take long for Michael to get to his house, once he was there he went straight to his room and into bed. He was tired, and he wanted tomorrow to come as soon as possible so he could hear Luke's voice again.
-
Michael woke up a little after eleven, and eagerly checked his phone. Luke hadn't called him yet, Michael tried not to get too disappointed. He got out of bed and went down to his kitchen to make himself something to eat, he needed to do something instead of waiting by his phone for Luke to call.
Michael ended up just eating toast, as soon as he finished eating he checked his phone again. Still no call from Luke. Michael realized how obsessive he must seem, but he didn't really care. Luke made him feel like things would be okay. Which was strange, because Luke wasn't okay. He was so far from okay, and Michael wasn't sure how to make him okay. He just wanted to make Luke as happy as Luke made him.
Michael was so into his thoughts, he barely noticed when his phone started ringing. But his volume was on the loudest it could go, so luckily he heard it. He quickly answered his phone without checking who it was.
"hello?" he said, trying not to sound too excited.
"hi Michael" Luke said, sounding cheerful.
"I was beginning to think you wouldn't call"
"I spent the last hour deciding if it was too early to call or not" Luke told him, and chuckled awkwardly.
Michael smiled, knowing Luke was thinking about him made him feel warm and fuzzy all over. It was a weird feeling, but nice.
"anyways, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to hangout again.. my mom is always telling me I need to go out more and I had a nice time yesterday so I thought that-" Luke said, rambling.
"I'd love to hangout with you" Michael said cutting him off, though Luke rambling was by far one of the cutest things he's ever heard.
"okay" Luke said simply, but Michael could tell he was smiling.
After the two had made plans to go for a walk, Michael hung up and got ready. Once again, it took him quite a long time to get ready.
Once he'd decided on skinny jeans, and a band tee he made his way out the door.
He met Luke at the coffee shop they were at the day before, this time Luke was there before him. He saw Luke leaning against the building, looking at his phone. Michael noticed Luke was wearing a long sleeved shirt even thought it was really hot out, he frowned and fought the urge to run up to Luke and kiss him.
Michael slowly walked up to him and smiled when Luke looked up and saw him.
"you ready?" Michael asked, even though he already knew what the answer was.
"yeah" Luke said, and grabbed Michael's hand. Michael's heart started racing, and he didn't know if he would ever get used to Luke doing that.
They stayed quiet for a bit, listening to the noise of the city. It didn't feel awkward, in fact it felt nice.
"it's really hot out" Michael said, knowing it must be even hotter for Luke.
"it's not too bad" Luke told him, and shrugged slightly.
Luke was used to this, he was used to being in long sleeves in summer. Michael felt stupid for even bringing up the heat, he shouldn't even be complaining.
"sorry" he said quietly.
"don't be" Luke said, knowing what Michael meant.
Michael turned and smiled at Luke, because this boy wasn't like any he'd ever met. Michael thought maybe he might be falling for this boy, or maybe it was just the heat getting to his head.
As they continued talking, Michael was sure it wasn't the heat.
-
After almost an hour of walking, they'd both gotten a bit tired so Michael suggested they go back to his house, Luke agreed happily. They walked towards Michael's house, which wasn't too far from where they were. The closer they got to his house, the more nervous Michael was. He never had people over, his mother hated having company and if Michael was being honest.. he was a bit embarrassed of his house.
When they got to his house, Luke reluctantly let go of Michael's hand so Michael could unlock his front door. As soon as the door was unlocked, Luke grabbed Michael's hand again. Michael's heart started racing again, and he thought holding Luke's hand would always have this affect on him. But he was fine with that.
"I just want to warn you, I never have people over. My house isn't that nice so-" Michael started to say.
"so, I must be special then?" Luke asked, biting his lip.
Michael looked at him, and smiled a little before nodding. "yeah"
Luke's face went red, and Michael found it absolutely adorable.
"I wanna see your room" Luke said excitedly, once he'd finished blushing.
"it's really messy, I don't think you want to see it" Michael told him.
"but I do want to see it, please Michael?" Luke asked, pouting.
Michael sighed, he couldn't say no to Luke's pout. He didn't think anyone could say no to that pout.
"fine"
Luke cheered and Michael led him up the stairs, their hands still intertwined.
