Deep Within

Falling

Fire crystals came falling from the sky. I looked up to see Reed flying over us. The seven other shifters shifted while my brother stayed in his human form, just looking around.

Messiah then jumped out of the bushes and started charging at other shifters. Reed swooped down to join the fight. One of the shifters who turned into a cyote climbed on to Reed's back. Reed then shot his poison crystals out of his back. I saw my brother shift into a liger and start to charge after Messiah.

Trying to go help her I shifted into a fire breathing lion. Before I could get to them 4 other shifters came out of the woods charging at me. I created a venus fly trap big enough to eat one of the whole and made it sprout from the ground. One of them got caught in it while the others kept coming for me. I made a grass and stone monster appear. They fought off two of the other shifters.

The final shifter coming after me was turned into ash as soon as he got close. I looked back to see that Reed was able to hold his own with the 3 he had to fight. As I continue to make my way to Messiah 2 more shifters charge at me coming from where Messiah was. They both charged at me at the same time I dodged one of them while the other bit my tail.

I roared in pain but my healing abilities kicked in and I was fine again. I bit one in his side and he immediately fell to the ground. The other continued to charge at me. I bit his neck untill I heard a snap getting pissed at all of these shifters getting in my way. I finally got to Messiah but it was too late. She was able to hold her own against my brother earlier but now he had his paw on her neck. She looked like she was on an inch of life.

I started to get angry at the sight. My eyes were glowing like never before. Burning hot anger was flowing through my veins. The lion I was shifted as grew 3x the size I already was making me 6x the size that was normal. My armor got stronger, spikes started to come out of my back, and I burst into flames.

I charged at my brother with anger burning through me. He didn't stand a chance. I swiped and clawed at him until he was on the edge of life like she was. I clawed and stomped him so hard there was a dent in the ground. Just as I was about to take the final blow.

'Don't do it' she mind linked me.
She sounded weak and fragile. This only made me angrier and she could tell.
'Please you will regret it'
I put down my paws and roared as loud as I could still angry that he would dare touch her. The demanding animalistic undertone in my voice made him limp away as fast as possible. All of the shifters Reed were going against had died or scurried off long before.

The only remaining shifter that had no scratches, left when he heard the roar. I looked back at Messiah to see her still laying on the ground back in her human form. Reed had went back to his human form also and so did I. We went to Messiah to see if she was okay. She was healing fast but not fast enough.

Coming back from an inch of life is hard to do but I know she would or so help me GAWD I was going to kill my brother without a second thought. I shifted into a horse so she could climb on my back and wouldn't have to walk. In order not to strain her voice she only used the mind link. I told Reed about it so he understood. We kept walking at a steady pace.

"That was so exhilarating! I mean, except for the part where you almost died I mean that would be like dieing in chapter 8 of a book."
'Died in chapter 8!' she mind linked.
'Chapter freaking 8!'
We continued to walk and joke around. Messiah was healing well enough to where she began to speak again. All of a sudden I heard a squeak beneth us.

Next thing I know we're falling.
