After that fiasco with Blue Team, all of the Red Team had agreed to move you into the base; complete and unanimous. Scout, Pyro, and Heavy spent an entire day clearing out a backup storage room for you to stay in. After that day, in the morning you had REFUSED to leave the camper. The situation got as far as Medic pulling your legs as hard as he can whilst you clung to the camper's door desperately screeching,
"NOOOooooOOOOOooo!" Spy promised you new throwing knifes are in the room. That and Sniper's death glare when you cling to his camper while being pulled scared you enough to be dragged into the room. Luckily, Spy's promise was kept and the new knifes were on your bed. Spy stood at the door with a smile on his face at your bewilderment as you ran in the room and jumped on the bed to see the knives. They were gold blades with dark black handles (picture). You had to admit, these blades were SO much better than blunt kitchen knives and scavenged weapons. You gently run your fingers over the blades. Spy got worried and took a few steps closer to you. In that second Spy took his first step, you threw the knife perfectly to the point where the blade pined Spy's wrist to the wall. The blade didn't pierce Spy's wrist exactly, it pined the cloth of his jacket to the wall but he couldn't move his arm. Spy's cigarette fell out of his mouth out of surprise. At first you smiled in pride but it quickly faded because you could have hurt him. Immediately you jumped from the bed and took the knife out of the wall, releasing Spy. You looked up at him worriedly and took a few steps back.
"S-sorry...." your voice was shaky and soft. Spy simply looked at the holes in his jacket and sighed.
"The jackets I wear don't just grow off of trees (y/n)." His expression was obviously pissed but he can't help but feel impressed by your aim. You didn't cry or whine, but you defiantly felt hurt.
"I-i'll fix it. If you want." You take the knifes from your bed and put them on a dresser. Spy looks to you and nods, surprisingly!
"Oui. Alright." He takes off his jacket and lays it down on your bed and walks out. He actually agreed to let you fix it! You hold the jacket in your arms and look at the cut sleeve. Four total holes due to his cuff being folded. Panicked, you ran to Medbay. Which was right next to your room. Medic convinced everyone that you needed to stay close to him. You ran through the big doors, right in the middle of Medic operating on Demo. You were too short to see that Demo's chest was wide open on the table. Demo lifted his head up and looked to you.
"Ay' Lassie! Wha' are you doing here?" Demo was of course, still drunk. You took a step back and held the jacket close. Medic looked down at you with a stern face. It is very rude and Medic hates it when he is interrupted in operations.
"Ja, (y/n)?" Medic didn't smile and actually glared at you. In turn it made you feel horrible. So you kind of just slowly back away into a counter, bowing your head in sorry. You ran out immediately to your room. Little to Medic's knowledge, when you hit the counter you took a threading needle with you. It was just so conveniently placed you couldn't resist stealing it. You'll tell Medic you took it later. As of now, you grabbed Scout's head set he gave you. You put it on and press the button on the side to talk.
"Sco? Sco I need help." You let the button go and wait a few seconds.
"Yeah Toots, what's up?" Scout's voice came over the radio. Hearing his goofy accent made you happy.
"Help me find a maroon red thin silk string. Come to my room." With that you put the head set down and here Scout say ok. Within a few minutes Scout came knocking on your door. "Come in!" You called to him and he walked in a few steps.
"Hey (nickname). Why ya need red maroon silk string?" Scout bounded in the rest of the way and jumped onto your queen sized bed. A bed way too big for you but you liked the room. You climbed onto the bed and poked Scout's cheek.
"I need to fix Spy's jacket." You showed Scout the holes in the cuff. He burst out laughing.
"What did that idiot Frenchman do?!" You shrink a little and whisper.
"More like what I had done." Scout stopped laughing and you had to repeat yourself due to him not hearing you over his laughter. Scout looked down at you in surprise.
"Well what did you do?" Scout looked down at you then to the coat holes.
"I throw knife at him and pined his wrist to the wall." You look down sheepishly but Scout gasped and laughed. He held his hand up for a high five you gladly took.
"You are awesome (y/n)." Scout calmed down and took you around the base. He showed you around which you remember little to nothing about who is where and where is what. Finally you ended up at Engie's place. "Yo Engineer! Do ya have some red thin string? Toots has to fix Spy's jacket." Engie's head popped out from behind some machinery.
"Wha? What do you mean she has to 'fix Spy's jacket'?" Engie walked up to Scout and you. He looked down at you and smiled. "Heyo (y/n)." You smiled back and held up the jacket. Engie took it and found the holes.
"(Y/n) threw a knife at Spy and pined his wrist to the wall." Scout smirked proudly for you. Engie looked at you and nodded his head.
"Damn honey." He smiled and gave you a high five. Wow, they really like it when you almost kill someone. Engie went back to looking at the jacket. "I may have something. Not string but metal." Engie walked to the back of his workshop and opened up a drawer full of wire racks. He takes out a small coil of thin red wire and comes back. "This is a thin red wire. Extremely malleable." You cocked your head to the side in confusion. "Very easy to move." Engie pat your head and handed you the jacket and wire. Engie started talking with Scout lowly as you looked at the very thin wire. After a minute you look back up at Scout and Engie a few feet away from you. It didn't occur to you till now looking at the men but they looked tired. Engie had taken his googles off and now it was easy to see the purple bags forming under his eyes. Scout had bags too but barley noticeable. That and Scout didn't have as much energy and bouncy behavior as before. Engie was slouching and slightly shaking. Come to think of it, that brisk moment you saw Medic, he too was off. Just as tired and sickly. This worried you but you decided to keep all comments to yourself. You walked out of the workshop and started wandering the halls, trying to remember where your room is. It took a good solid twenty five minutes for you to finally find your room. You went in and started working on the coat.
The first two years after the attack on your town were the worst years. During those times you had to learn the hard way to survive. You had little to no food every week and clothes and personal hygiene were disastrous. But you learned either way and survived. A skill you gladly have for your jacket situation was learning how to sew. In the beginning you lived off of one pair of clothing, so you had to learn to repair any tear damages. That was until you learned to have more pairs of clothing. After that sewing was minor and used maybe once a month.
It took three days total for your to completely repair the jacket. All days and all nights with no sleeping or eating. Again like before in the camper, it's like you didn't exist. No one came to check on you or ask if you ate. You don't blame the men, none of them seem familiar with taking care of a child. That and you were new, of course they would forget you were there. Why it took so long was because you had to get the stitches as little and tight as possible so the fine seams wouldn't be noticeable. This jacket was expensive, you will admit. So you told yourself to use the best of your abilities to make it presentable. The three days of no sleeping or eating was easy for you to go through. You can remember weeks with no food or sleep from your past. Purple bags were prominently under your eyes. Your hair was greasy as ever and god did you smell bad! It was noon of the fourth day when you finished the fine stitching. You held up the sleeve and looked at the work you had done. It was a flawless seam, with little to no spots standing out. You lay the jacket down on the bed and you started looking around the drawers of your dresser. You found out that the drawers were filled with clothing articles for you. Shirts, pants, shorts, underwear, coats, pajamas; all of it but one drawer had other items for you. The drawer had feminine products for when you are older (yikes) and deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, hair spray, hair ties, and perfu- Perfume! Just what you need to mask your horrid scent! You took the perfume and gave yourself a few sprits. You smelled nice. Just like fresh spring fields after a May shower. Good enough for now. You comb your hair and grab the jacket and head out. After you walk around for a bit you ran into Sniper.
"Snipes." Sniper looked around himself and the direction you were from. He kept looking around at his hight level, finding no one he started to get abrasive, thinking it was a blue Spy. You sigh and growl. "Down here dummy." Sniper jumped a little and looked down at you beside him.
"Oh. Sorry (y/n). Wha do you need?" He relaxed more but even Sniper looked tired and drained like the rest of the team too.
"Have you seen Spy? I need to see him." You were holding his jacket close to your chest. Sniper told you he was in his smoking room. You asked him for directions and he took you to the front door. Sniper was about to part ways from you there but saw your eyes.
"Ey. You haven't been sleepoin, have you?" You shook your head and looked down.
"Don't worry about it. I'm fine." With that you turn from Sniper, indicating the conversation was over. Sniper took the hint and backed off to leave. Now you stood at the door to Spy's smoking room. You knocked on the door and heard a muffled "go away". You knocked again and after a minute of silence and a long sigh you heard "come in". With that you opened the door and entered what seemed like a different realm. The base itself was metal and cruddy. Quite unkept with and dirty. But this room had red carpet, a fire place, grand piano, and a bar. It was almost like entering a different house entirely. There were two velvet chairs by the fire place angled to the fire. You could see Spy's crossed legs and a silhouette of him. He was still smoking as usual but his voice sounded horse and groggy.
"What do 'ou want Scout?" You stood there awkwardly for a few seconds then walked closer to the point where you are five feet away from Spy. "I said, what do 'o-" Spy stopped mid sentence seeing you stand there, illuminated by the fires light, holding his jacket. You walked up to his side and handed him the jacket.
"Here. Fixed as promised." With that you intended to leave, turning on your heel you were about to before Spy grabbed your shoulder and gently nudged you back. He was looking at the stitches and smirked.
" 'Ou did a good job. 'Hank 'ou (y/n)." Spy smiled at you for a second but his smile faded as he looked at you. You were looking down, afraid to look him in the eyes and see him sickly too. But you looked just as sickly as the other men. You were pale and tired. Bags under your eyes and you had lost a few pounds which is dangerous in your case. "Mademoiselle, 'ou 'ave not taken care of 'ourself these past few days. What is wrong?" Spy picked you up easily and placed you in his lap. Internally you freaked out for a moment but soon you relaxed and leaned into him.
"Working on your jacket." There was more than that but again, Spy could see through your brick walls just like glass. Spy put out his cigarette and hung the jacket on the side of the chair.
"There is more, of course. Do tell (y/n)." You looked up at Spy, and something in you kind of just slowly snapped into place.
"Why should I? The information I have not always need to go out. Besides, there is little to no trust I have with anyone. I'm fine and that final. Ok?" You looked up to see Spy's eyes a little wider than before. You surprised him because you didn't trust him? Or is it because that glass wall Spy can see right through is starting to become translucent. Spy sighed and closed his eyes. Slowly he nodded and understood.
"Fair enough. But I want 'ou to take a nap 'ere where I can see 'ou. No trust, hm?" Spy smirked and cocked his eyebrow to you. You groan and nod your head. You were gonna slide out of his lap to go to the other chair but Spy wrapped an arm around you. Obviously he wanted you to stay close. You sigh and understand that he wanted to get you to trust him. Seems like you will be with this team for awhile. So you guess you should get a little less defensive around them. Slowly you slouch into Spy's lap, realizing how tired you are. Spy gently rubbed the side of your arm. You rub your eyes and yawn. Lazily, you lean into Spy's hold and fall asleep.
