(Sorry for my crazy unpredictable publishing schedule! I'll try to keep updating as soon as possible. It's just hard juggling two stories that I love to get in depth about and detailed but also juggling my outer life. I'll just need some time but thank you all for reading my story! All the comments and votes are amazing. Thank you guys and i'll make sure to keep posting chapters and writing like a mad man!)

"We ain't giving you up to that cocky asshole! I don't like him. He's shifty. Like Spy." Scout enters to room and crosses his arms only to be smacked in the back of the head by Spy.
" 'e is right. Somezing is rather off about 'zat man." Medic nods his head in agreement. You stay curled up on the bed in silence. Too deep in thought to even hear their arguing.
It hurt you. It torn you in two, badly. Both options had a major pro and con. Either you go home and live with your asshole brother Alayus. But you would be back home in Kansas. The place you knew like the back of your hand. Where you found comfort in and familiarity. At peace, and less tense. Or you could stay with the mercs. A bunch of murderous men who actually care for you. Yet they are not family. And this place you must live in gives you high amounts of stress and anxiety. Their constant war and threat of death keeps you sleepless for days on end.
What if you were just a burden to them? Well then they would have told you to go with your brother at this point. But what if it's pity? Pity or not, they were the first people to ever show you kindness in years of scorching hatred. Then do they intend to just keep you to use you? Well what ever they want, they are going to extensive miles to keep you for it. Most likely the land is all you have to offer but what would nine unemployed mercenary men need with Kansas? A giant plain field full of tornados and baren waste land doesn't sound the most appealing to most ears.
"Frau? Frau?.... Frau!" You snap out of your thoughts as you look to see all nine Red mercs lined up around your bed, looking down at you as they argue. All of them yelling at you. They were worried, some confused, some angry. But above all, they scared you like this. Made you feel cornered or pinned to a wall. Your breathing picked up and so did your heart beat, rapidly. Thus setting off the alarm and Medic rushed to your side to calm you as the men all shut up due to the alarm. As Medic wrapped his arms around you, you pushed him away and ripped off all your IVs. You jumped off the bed and pushed past all the mercs, out the door, down the hall, and locked yourself in your room. Seconds after you locked the door, a herd of foot steps came fallowing. They all knocked on your door, shouting too many things all at once. You covered your ears, feeling far too over whelmed by the many things happening and you had it.
"SHUT UP AND GO AWAY NOW!" You shouted back at the men as the knocking went silent and slowly but surely they all shuffle away except one person still sat at your door. Most likely Medic judging by his size. All the running and yelling slowly caught up with your sick body. Your head started to whirl and you stumbled to your hands and knees. Before you could fully understand your light headedness, you felt nauseous and threw up. It was a mixture of blood and other fluids. Seeing the blood threw you off and you backed away slowly from the place you puked on the floor. You heard shuffling outside the door.
"(Y/n)? Did jou throw up? Bitte, it ist just me. Let me in." Medic's muffled voice through the door pleaded with you. A part of you wanted to be alone to figure the situation out but the other part of you knew you needed the doctor because you were sick. You decided to let him in. You pulled yourself off the floor and unlocked to the door. As soon as the door opened you backed up and fell down again, feeling nauseous. Medic rushed to your side after closing and locking the door for you. "Ack! (Y/n)! Jou can't just tear out IVs like zhat. Jou vill get hurt. Like jou are now." Medic scooped you up in his arms and held you close. "Just breaz, Frau. Relax and calm jourself as best jou can." He gently rocked you side to side which did help. You still felt all sorts of off balanced and sick. So you relaxed as best you could in Medic's arms and rested your head on his shoulder.
Medic was of course still just as worried and confused as the rest of the men but he kept himself composed for your sake. On the run down to your room he realised how this situation looks to you. How you choosing them over your brother automatically was not that easy. How nine huge men screaming at you, surrounding your bed was not the best way to approach you in this predicament.
Medic stood up with you in his arms and took you to your bed. He laid you down on your side and turned to get up right as you and him heard a few soft knocks at the door. Medic looked down at you and then back to the door.
"Who ist it?" Medic called out and there was second of silence, then a soft muffled grunt as something metal hits the ground once.
"Ist zhe blue Medic! I brought an oxygen tank for zhe klein Frau." Blu Medic seemed a bit out of breath with slight panting. Red Medic turned to you and leaned down to whisper to you.
"Are jou ok vhis him being here Frau?" You nod your head slowly as you close your eyes. Your light headedness is slowly turning to unconsciousness. Red Medic panics a bit, seeing you slip in and out of being awake. He runs to the door, unlocks and opens it, pulls Blu Medic in with the oxygen tank and hooks you up to the mask immediately. As soon as the air in the mask flooded in you finally started to feel better. It made a little no sense to you, you were breathing fine without the mask but yet you were sickly. With the mask you breath just the same but then your are not sickly. You'll ask Medic about it later. For now though, Blu Medic put a soft light quilt over you to keep you a little warm. Red Medic was checking the pressure on the oxygen tank, well aware of how rough he handled the fragile metal tank. He took out a pen and small note pad (a rather familiar note pad) from his coat pocket and wrote some things down. As Red Medic was focused on the tank, Blu Medic was more focused on getting you comfortable. He gently stroked the side of your head while he fluffed your pillows and made sure your heart rate stayed down. You shakily pull your hand up to your mask and take it off for a second to talk.
"Thank you." Both Medics stopped what they were doing and looked at you with wide eyes.
"Huh?" Both of them perfectly pitched with each other and in sync, question what you had said. You let a small chuckle and smile slightly.
"Thank you..... For taking care of me." You put the mask back on as both the Medics let your words sink in. Red Medic leaned down to you and kissed your temple.
"Ist mein pleasure to be jour doctor, (Y/n)." He gave you soft smile and gentle rubbed your shoulder. Blu Medic was still a little flustered by the thanking. Red Medic looks to Blu Medic with expecting eyes. Wanting him to answer you.
"O-oh! Ah..... N-No problem..... (Y/n)....." Blu Medic was startled and flustered a bit. He gives you a half forced smile and a small pat on your back. You give a small painful giggle at Blu Medic's attempt to show compassion. Red Medic rolls his eyes with a tired smile.
"Go back to Alayus, Blu. Ich got (Y/n) from here. Danke for bringing zhe oxygen tank." Blu Medic stands up and curtly nods his head back at Red Medic as a 'you're welcome' nod. He promptly leaves without a word and Red Medic locked the door behind Blu. Medic sighs and leans up against the door. "Okay. Jou'll need to rest for right now (Y/n). But jou need to figure out an answer soon for jour brozher. Jou only have about..... hmm...." Medic looks down at his wrist watch. "About twenty hours left." Medic walks over to your bed side and looks down at your small figure on the huge bed. You were very sick, pale, exhausted, and above all you were fighting an internal mental battle at the moment which made you look even worse. It hurt Medic's heart to see you like this. Medic almost forgot what it was like to feel his heart. Let emotions get the best of him. And some how he knows that the rest of his team deep down feels the same. They all worry for you and what will happen to you. Out of there long many years of constant war and death, they were given a small taste of what it was like to be human again and not just killing machines set on timers. You brought hope back in them. Hope that they are more than just mercenaries, but father figures. Friends. Brothers. A Team. Family.
And above all........ Protectors.
