Once the sun rose over the horizon of the new day, it was time to set out for home with the Red Team. You sat on a chair next to a window, right outside the room you were supposed to sleep in, watching the sun rise. You didn't sleep at all that night. That feeling of needing for company still swirled around in your chest. The look on Medic's face as well kept coming up every time you closed your eyes and still flashed in your head every once in awhile. He was sad or hurt by what you said but hide it well behind a stoic face. Really, you don't mean to hurt him or anyone. How would you know how to act or say around people when you grew up on your own? You just tried being formal and strong. Not a chance will you show weakness around them.
Little did you know, Spy had stayed up all night watching you look out the window from a distance. He studied you intently as much as you studied them. Of course, it being Spy, he could see through your everything. As if the walls you built out of bricks to protect yourself was glass to him. The sun started to peek over the horizon and the men in the lounge room had started to stur and wake. The men woke up and carried on with their morning business individually, ignoring Spy leaning against the wall just a few feet away. Sniper, on the other hand, had gotten up before everyone and was ready to go but got curious as to what Spy was up to, he approached him.
"Oi, Spi. Wha-" Sniper was cut off by Spy's hand covering his mouth.
"Quiet idiot. I'm keeping an eye on (y/n). She hadn't slept all night." Spy lit a cigarette and started smoking.
"Last oi' checked, you didn't sleep either." Sniper cocked his eye brow at Spy and crossed his arms over his chest. He peeked around the corner to see you sitting and looking out the window. "She looks sad." Sniper looked to Spy.
"Doesn't everyone?" Spy retorted and walked away. Sniper watched him leave and sighed. He took one more glance at you and turned to walk away. He stops after two steps and groans. He turns back around and walks over to you. You look up at him after he is about ten feet away.
" 'Ello Shila. How ya feelin?" Sniper points to your leg. This is your chance to interact besides through a piece a paper and you will take that chance.
"I-it's..... Ok...." Your voice again is soft and shallow but audible enough. Sniper smiles and kneels in front of you.
"Ha! Oi' guess you do talk." Sniper gives you a smile. You smile back softly, actually comforted by his response. You slide off the chair you sat in and hissed as you forgot about your leg injury. Sniper's smile fell and he started to worry. He wrapped his arm around you and carried you to the hall entrance to the lounge room. "Medic! (Y/n)'s leg needs to be looked at." Medic was standing behind Heavy and tilted to his and popped out from behind Heavy.
"Coming!" He yelled out before grabbing some stuff and running over. Before the Medic had approached you and Sniper, you let out a small chuckle at Medic just appearing out of no where from behind Medic. Sniper smiled down at you, happy to see you giggle and act more your age instead of a cold-hearted scared killer. Medic came up and motioned Sniper to fallow him into the medical room. Sniper fallowed him of course with you in his arms. You watched what was going on in front of you but clung slightly to Sniper. You didn't have to, you were completely stable in his arms. It just made you feel more safe mentally. Sniper placed you down on the table.
"Do oi' stay or?....." Poor Sniper, so awkward and clueless.
"Jou can go. I vill just change out her bandages and check her stitches." Sniper tipped his hat to both you and Medic, then left. Medic had taken off your bandages and sighed. "Jou tore a few stitches but jou vill be fine. I'll restitch zhem real quick." Medic grabbed a needle and some medical thread. He started working but the moment the needle punctured your skin you yelped. You didn't jerk your leg away, that would make it worse. Some tears started at the edge of your eyes. Medic kept sewing you up without a care. Once he finished, it only took him a minute, he wrapped your leg back up in new bandage and sat down next to your leg. "Zhere. Not so bad now?" He smiled and looked up at you. His smile fell as he saw the tears roll down your cheek. Your breathing was in small pants due to you holding your breath quite a few times. "Sorry mädchen. I just vanted to get done vith zhe stitching as soon as possible so jou vouldn't hurt for long." He brought you a tissue and whipped your tears away.
"It's... ok." You laid back fully on the table to catch your breath. Medic looked genuinely worried but also hurt at the same time. "I'm sorry......" You looked down to avoid his gaze. He tilted his head in confusion.
"Sorry for vhat?" He took his chair and sat down next to the table you were laid on.
"Yesterday..... Paper." At first Medic didn't get it but after a minute it clicked and his face rose.
"Oh! About zhat? Ist ok. I understand vhere jou are coming from. Wie do look like a bunch of intimidating mercenaries. But wie are not zhat bad once jou get to know us. Besides needing jour supplies, wie actually considered bringing jou back to our base. Jou have proven jourself capable of mercenary vork. Zhat and wie can train jou." Medic took a moment to look down and gave a crocked smile. "Jou don't have anyvone...... Do jou?" You looked away from him as well and sighed. You nodded your head and tightened your grip on your shirt. Medic gave you a sad smile and nodded his head. "A lot of us have no vone eizher."
After that conversation, Medic carried you out to the lounge where everyone was ready to go. The trip home had no complications, except Scout getting into trouble running ahead and breaking stuff. Medic and Heavy took turns carrying you around due to your lack of ability to walk. You were a bit scared of Heavy at first but as you traveled together and made small talk with Medic and Heavy, you learned he is not that bad of a guy. His size may scare you but he really is a gentle giant, that is if you don't piss him off.
By sun down the whole team had made it to the paper factory, your home. You smiled at the familiar sight but stopped as you saw the door ajar and broken.
"Stop" You were in Medic's arms at the time.
"Vhat?" Medic stopped and looked down at you confused.
"Something wrong. Something very wrong. Get your team. Now." Medic already sensed your panic and knew that what ever is going on, is serious. You knew the land better than you. Medic turned to Heavy and told him to gather the team immediately and quietly. Within the next fifteen minutes, the whole team was accounted for. They all gathered around you and Medic. You pointed to the entrance of the factory. "Door broken. Needed a lot of power to do that...."
"How much power?" Heavy spoke first quietly. You keep your eyes on the door.
"Lots."
