Sirius had been living in his flat in London for a little over 3 years and every day, after he drank his 5th cup of coffee he would leave to go on his morning walk. He would pass by the empty flat adjacent to his own and barley pay it any mind. It had never been occupied for the entirety of those 3 years, so you can imagine the surprise when Sirius came home after work to find the door wide open.

He walked slowly into the doorway of the empty flat and knocked on the open door.

" Hello?"

There was a shuffling noise and then a rhythmic tapping. A man, around Sirius' age appeared from around the corner. He was skinny and his eyes had a strange, glossed over look to them. One hand was grasping a long cane and the other was using the wall as support.

" Oh, hello. I'm Remus."

Sirius stuck out his hand to shake, but the other man was unresponsive. Sirius awkwardly cleared this throat and stuck his hand back into his pocket.

" I'm Sirius. Are you moving in?"

Remus nodded.

" Do you live in this complex?"

" Yeah, Just across the hall, actually."

"Do you think you could help me move my stuff in? I know we've just met and all.." the man trailed off, his face blushed a rosy pink.

" Uh, sure! Lucky for you, I'm off work today."

Remus nodded and showed Sirius to the multiple boxes that were being stored in his car outside the complex. He walked slowly, navigating his walking stick through the narrow hallways and feeling his way around.

" I'm surprised you haven't made a comment yet," Remus quipped.

" Made a comment about what?"

" Surely you've noticed," he gestured to his cane.

" Did you want me to say something?"

" No, it's quite refreshing actually, to have someone talk to me without mentioning how blind I am, but I assume you're curious."

" Well of course I am, but I'd like to get to know you before I go asking your whole life story."

Remus smiled. They reached his car and he fumbled with his keys, trying to find the right one. Finally, he stuck the right key into the lock and popped the trunk of the car open.

" Sorry this is taking so long. You'd think I'd be used to this blind thing by now."

Sirius laughed and picked up a box from inside of the trunk. They started walking towards the building once again.

" If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been blind?"

" Well, I started losing my vision when I was 5, but I didn't lose my sight completely until 3 years ago."

Sirius made a sound in acknowledgment and kicked the door open with his boot-clad foot.

" I'm still not the best at living on my own and it's so much harder trying to get a job when you're blind."

" I can imagine. What made you move here?"

" Well, I used to live in the north side of town, which as you may know, is notorious for its crime. I finally got a promotion at work that allowed me to move into a nicer space."

The two exchanged stories as they brought up boxes from Remus' car into his apartment. Remus mentioned how he'd always wanted a seeing eye dog, but could never afford it, and Sirius brought up how he'd always been a dog person.

They said there goodbyes and Sirius ventured back into his apartment. He immediately went onto his laptop to research about how to apply for a service dog. He didn't know why he was doing this, it wasn't as if he was the blind one. But he grew rather attached to Remus and he felt the urge to see him happy and smiling with a service dog by his side.

He eventually went to bed after hours of pondering and googling. He decided that he would start a go-fund-me page in Remus' honor to help him get a dog.

The next morning, Sirius woke up and started to brew a pot of coffee when he heard a knock at the door. Curious, he opened the door to find a nervous Remus Lupin standing outside his doorway.

" Um, hello."

Sirius chuckled and opened the door wider. Remus visibly relaxed when he heard Sirius laugh.

" Come one in, Remus."

Sirius poured a cup of coffee and asked if Remus wanted one. Remus obliged and took his cup gratefully " So, Remus. What brings you to my humble flat this morning?"

" My friend Lily called me this morning and told me that someone had started a go-fund-me called ' Help Remus Lupin get a Seeing Eye Dog'. Remus Lupin isn't a common name and I'm almost positive that there's only one blind one in all of London, so tell me Sirius, who started that page?"

Sirius blushed and scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.

" Uh, well. It was supposed to be a surprise."

Remus sighed in exasperation and continued to sip his coffee.

" Are you mad?"

" Well, I am a little. You didn't ask me first, which has me a little irked..." He trailed of, swirling his mug around in his hands.

" But, I guess I forgive you. It was a nice gesture, after all."

Sirius finished his coffee and put the empty mug in the sink.

" You're right, Remus. I should've asked first. If you want me to take the page down, I will."

Remus chuckled. " Well, don't do that! I still want the dog!"

After checking the website on Sirius' computer, the two found that they had raised just about 500£.

" Holy.... After just one night..." Remus trailed off in amazement. He quickly turned and hugged his companion tightly.

" Thank you... No one has ever done anything like this for me.."

Sirius embraced the other man and rubbed his back gently.

" It was no problem, remus. You just have to promise to share your dog when you get it," He joked.

They both laughed and waited for the counter to slowly rise.

A/N

Ayyyy Sorry for the wait... I've been so busy from family holiday gatherings and honestly they've drained me so much that I've been lacking inspiration. So, blame them for this poorly done oneshot and I'll try to get more out sooner. I also plan to update my book Ignorance soon, so be on the lookout for that. Thank you all for a wonderful year on Wattpad and I look forward for another one to come!
