The last thing Remus was expecting on his first day of college was a man with his long black hair tied up in a bun and crystals dangling from his neck to be meditating in the middle of his dorm room. Remus had just arrived on the campus of Hogwarts University thirty minutes prior and was holding his schedule and dorm number in one hand whilst juggling his other belongings in various other places. He finally fumbled the locked door into an open position only to be greeted with the strong smell of incense.

Remus coughed and waved the air around his face to clear a path for some fresh air. He stared wide eyed at the man sitting in front of him. He was a handsome man, a 5 O'clock shadow gracing his sharp jawline.

" Bloody Hell! What is that smell?"

The man's eyes snapped open at the sudden voice and he smiled. That smile made Remus' heart jolt.

" Oh hey! I didn't think anyone was coming today, so I didn't open the windows." He got up from his small handmade mat on the floor and walked over to the window. He was shorter than Remus expected.

" Oh, and the smell you were talking about is my incense. It helps me relax."

" To each their own I guess," Remus muttered under his breath, hoping that the other man wouldn't hear.

The man laughed, evidently he heard. A faint blush dusted Remus' cheeks.

" I'm Sirius, by the way. I'm assuming you're my new room mate?"

Remus nodded, " I'm Remus Lupin."

Sirius smiled,a twinkle shining in his eyes.

" From the story?"

Remus rolled his eyes. "Yeah, like from the story. And before you ask, no I don't have a brother named Romulus, yes I am aware my name is Wolf McWerewolf, no I have not been to Rome, and I am not obsessed with Roman mythology."

" Good to know," Sirius laughed. " Actually, I was wondering if you would mind if I meditated or did yoga in the mornings?"

" If I said no would it stop you?"

" Well the couterous thing would be to say yes, but I'm not going to lie, probably not."

Remus laughed for the first time in a while and threw his hands up in surrender.

" Well I'm not stopping you."

By this point, Remus had put down his bag and had started wandering around the small room.

"What's with the decor?" He said, gesturing to the various crystals and dream catchers hung on the wall.

Sirius rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

" Um. Well, I kinda believe that they can improve your mood and heal your aura. I know its sounds dumb. I can take them down if you'd like."

Remus walked into the small attached kitchenette.

" I'm not going to make you take them down even if it does sound a little weird." He sat down at the breakfast bar and put his head in his hand.

" Maybe you can teach me about it someday?"

Sirius nodded slowly and sat next to Remus. " Uh, yeah sure! So, um what do you like to do?"

Without missing a beat Remus looked Sirius dead in the eyes.

" Gay shit."

Sirius burst out laughing, he clutched his stomach as it grew sore. Remus cracked a small smile.

" I didn't think my joke was that funny."

Sirius wiped a tear.

" It just caught me off guard, that's all. So, you're gay?"

"I'm bisexual, actually. I'm assuming you're straight?"

Sirius laughed out loud.

" Now that's a funny joke. No, I'm definitely very gay."

A little while later, after Remus got situated in his new living space, he plopped down onto his cramped bed.He tried to fall asleep but a familiar scent filled his nose. It brought back memories, good and bad. He got up once again and stretched his sore back. He followed his nose back into the living room. There, sitting on the window, Sirius was smoking some sort of joint.

Remus rubbed his eyes and yawned.

" I didn't know you smoked."

Sirius jumped, startled by the sudden noise.

" Oh, sorry! I thought you were asleep.."

Remus crawled up on the window next to Sirius and motioned for him to pass the joint. Sirius passed it over and continued staring out the window.

" I don't do it often," he said.

" What?"

" I don't smoke often."

" Oh. I can tell, actually. You didn't roll this very well."  Remus put the joint back up to his lips. Sirius chuckled.

" Yeah, like I said I don't smoke often. You seem to know what you're doing."

" I used to smoke a lot... Brings back memories."

" Good memories?"

" Not really. "

There was a lull in the conversation. Sirius felt suffocated by the silence.

" So, um..."

He couldn't think of anything to say. Remus felt the awkward atmosphere hanging around them.

" If you don't smoke often, what's the special occasion? Is my presence just too much to bear?"

" No, definitely not. If anything you make it better. I always hated being alone," Sirius felt himself getting off topic. " No, it's not you. My parents called earlier."

Remus adjusted himself to face Sirius. " Crystals can't always help?"

Sirius sucked in a breath and let out a small smile. It didn't look real enough.

" Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. Just trying to lighten the mood.... ' guess I didn't do a very good job."

Sirius just stared out the window again and played with the necklace hanging around his neck. Remus suddenly felt bad for invading the other boy's peace. He handed him the joint and started to get up.

" No! Please don't leave," Sirius' voice was small. Barely even audible. Remus sighed and sat back down.

" Do you want to talk about it?"

" No, not really. I just want you to be here, that's all."

When Remus didn't reply, Sirius felt his aura fill with anxiety. He fiddled with the crystal on his chain.  " Of course, you can go back to sleep if you want!"

Remus took the other man's hand in his own and started tracing shapes on his palm.

" It's okay, I'll stay."

" You think I'm weird, don't you?"

" Of course, but you're not weirder than anybody else. Besides, it's not a bad thing to be different. I find your crystal obsession endearing," Remus said with a sweet smile. He wasn't lying. He really did find his new roommate's habits to be cute and it didn't help that the man was extremely good looking.

He pulled Sirius in a for a hug and immediately he felt the other man relax.

" Lets just go to bed, yeah?"

Sirius nodded and they both walked into the small room that held their beds. Sirius got into his bed and shivered at the loss of body heat. Remus motioned for Sirius to scoot over and then crawled into the bed with him. Sirius wrapped his arms around Remus and buried his head into the crook of his neck.

" Goodnight, Crystal Boy"
