Dear diary,
As I predicted, my weekend was pretty blend, with nothing much happening, except that on Sunday a pigeon made its way into my room making dust and feathers fly around in a tornado as it struggled to get out. Which, by the way, left a mess on my floor, resulting in me vacuuming my room for the second time.

I personally thought it was a bit funny, seeing as I never would have thought that a bird could do such a dumb thing as to get into other person’s house through a little gap in a window. Only soon to find out that it was much better being outside in the wild, rather than stuck between four walls.

So there was nothing really to write about, seeing as this was the only thing that made me get out of bed through the course of two days. But hey, today is a new day, which means that something rather exciting might have happened.

My lunch break was the thing that would probably interest you the most, unless you’re into long and boring math equations that just make your brain boil in its own juices.

So, as I was done with my last class before the big break, I made my way into the cafeteria, deciding on whether to eat the cold mash served with the side of rubbery chicken that our lunch lady has prepared, or to just grab an apple and a bottle of orange juice and head outside where the benches were. I went with the second option, as it appealed to me more and more when the awful smell of gravy hit me.

I took what seemed to be the biggest apple from the fruit stand and walked outside, sunlight gently hitting my face as it formed itself into a grinning expression. There weren’t many people outside, so I sat on the first bench that I spotted and began sinking my teeth into the hard body of the green apple that sent a nice aroma across, and tasted pretty damn good too, to my surprise.

I let my imagination run wild as I sank down in my seat, giving my mind the chance to take me into the other reality which opened itself in front of me as I closed my eyes, and letting the sun inject my skin with vitamin D.

My eyes shot open and my thoughts quickly vanished as my ears sensed a vibration that translated to my brain in the form of a question;

“Is this seat taken?” said the voice from behind me.

I quickly turned around to look at who ever it was that shook me from my thoughts, and was pleasantly surprised as my eyes lay on the familiar features of Molly. Thick layer of black eyeliner, bright pink hair, pale face, tattooed arms and dark lips, that gave me a warm smile, were standing in front of me.

I gave her a small wave and patted the seat next to me, inviting her over to sit on the bench.

Molly was the closest thing to what I could consider a friend. She was the only one that still wanted to hang out with me, even though I wasn’t much of a company no more, due to my lack of speech. Molly was a big-time party girl. Everyone at school was invited to every single one that she threw, and I gotta say, they really were as good as you’d imagine. Her house is huge, with a terrace on the roof and a big pool in the back yard. The place was famous to say the least, with her parents always away and the loud music shaking the walls ‘round the clock.

“So what are you up to sister” she asked playfully, clearly thinking something over.

I just shrugged my shoulders, as there wasn’t anything interesting I could have told her. But then a thought crossed my mind, and before I knew it the words already escaped my mouth;

“What can you tell me about the boy in the middle” I pointed my finger at a ‘badass’ group of guys. There were only five of them. All of them had some type of tattoos on their toned bodies. Two of them had out cigarettes and offered them to the others, not realizing that they were putting themselves at risk of getting lung cancer. All of them said ‘yes’ except the boy I was particularly pointing at.

“Louis?” she picked up on where I was pointing and looked at me with her eyebrows raised.

“Trust me you don’t wanna go down that road. You should just stay away from him Jade, that’s for your own good. And promise me you won’t talk to him at my party tonight”

My eyes shot wide open, and I was sure she had made a mistake in her sentence, but I just dared to make sure;

“Party?” I questioned.

“Don’t change the subject missy! You have to promise” she held out a wiggling finger in front of my face.

I scrunched up my nose and shook my head a little, indicating that I wasn’t sure that I wanted to go. But she obviously couldn’t take a hint and went on.

“Don’t worry, the party will be fun” she exclaimed. “Plus it’s time you get out of your pathetic depression and let lose. It’ll be just like the old times yeah?”

She elbowed me slightly in the ribs as she said the last sentence. This brought a flashing memory of how things used to be, before the you know what. Alice and I loved parties, and everything about them. The flashing lights, loud music, and those stupid games of ‘truth or dare’ that always seem to end up with a girl running away from the circle, tears streaming down her face. The making out in the closets, one-night-stands in the bedrooms, and that one guy that always takes it a little too serious and drinks way more than he should.

A wide grin crept itself onto my face as I remembered all the things that were once the only thing I really called living. But all of that was a long time ago. When Alice became sick I had to step away from the blinding lights and focus on what’s real.

But after all, I needed to let go and have some fun once in a while right? Plus, I haven’t been to a party in over a year, making me forget what it’s really like to have fun. I let out a giving in sigh, agreeing to what Molly had just offered me.

 “Yaaay! I’m so excited, this is gonna be the best party ever!” she jumped up and down, making her bright pink hair bounce on her shoulders, clapping her hands with a huge smile on her face.

“The party starts at 10 pm!” she shouted running back into the school, to make sure she wasn’t late to her class.

I was still unsure if it was the best idea to go to that party tonight, especially after all the things Molly told me about the punk boy, which I’m guessing went under the name ‘Louis’. Speaking of whom, he was now heading towards the benches, more particularly my bench.

I wanted to remain still, just to see where it might take me if I were to talk to him. But I knew that it would turn out bad for me either way, and before I knew it my legs started to walk faster towards school until I ended up safely indoors, away from him.
